Does any one have spec's or photos of the 2 seat trainer version? Trainers usually have high visability ain schemes....great for models. Any info would be most appreciated......superdoc

Only one two-seater was built, and it wasn't really intended as a trainer (though options were offered as such), but more to provide space for a weapons officer. It was light gray, though a hypothetical trainer version you could finish as you see appropriate. Photos are available on this website. Trumpeter offers a 1/32 example, and there are conversion set for the 1/72 offerings. I don't know what's available to the 1/48 market.

small correction..there were 2 made, and only one left now which is, last i heard at a museum somewhere, and the second seat was more for an observer and weather/situations analyst type member, not necessarily a weapons officer.

just sit back, and let the 30mm do the work!!!

I have yet to even hear of anyone providing proof that a second two-seater was ever built. All credible and creditable sources close to the A-10, including development, on this website have stated only one two-seater was built each time this question is brought up.

The two seater was designated the A-10A N/AW (Night/All Weather), retaining the A-varient designation despite the second seat. The second crewman would have been as much a WSO as the guys on the F-111 and A-6, and would have performed similar duties for similar reasons.

The A-10B was the proposed trainer, without the N/AW's gear, unbuilt.

Can't wait to hear about the jettisonable engines, next.

I have made the same challenge in the past (which no has accepted)and I make it again....give us a tail number of the #2 jet or a picture of a 2 seat A-10 other than 73-0664.

Many thanks to all who replied about the A-10 two seater. I am new to the forum, so did not know about the controversy. That just makes it all the more desirable for a scale model builder.
Again, thank you......superdoc.

You are more than welcome, Superdoc. Your questions are quite legit. What scale do you build in? Let me know if I can field any parts or information for you. I've been building for 25 years and president of my IPMS club for the last two years (just stepped down for a break). If you have an internet messenger program, please drop me a line. Mine are listed on the bar.
