They armor the <i>windshield wipers!?</i> And I thought the Challenger had a 120mm smoothbore like the Abrams?

Fun watching the rover on the roads and such, and the tank just plowing across the field. Make it even, put a missile on the 4x4.

Challenger 2 is equipped with an L30, 120 mm rifled tank gun from BAE Systems Land Systems (formerly RO Defence). In January 2004, Land Systems was awarded a contract to develop a new smoothbore 120 mm gun for the British Army Challenger tanks. Under the contract, a Challenger 2 has been armed with the Rheinmetall L55 smoothbore gun, as fitted on the Leopard 2A6 tank, and began firing trials in January 2006.


This program was made late 2004 (54 plate on the RR) so it would have been pre-cutover.

Chally 120mm ammo is also 2 piece(projectile and powder bag), as opposed to the one piece US rounds.

Cool. I thought most of the west was going for the smoothbore gun. Tell me he's shootin' his mouth about hte accuracy though. That was another thing that got me.
