(CNN) -- John DeLorean, developer of a futuristic sportscar that captured the country's attention in the 1980s, has died. He was 80. DeLorean died Saturday at the Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey, from complications from a stroke, said Paul Connell, owner of Desmond and Sons funeral home in Michigan. DeLorean's stainless-steel, gull-winged car, which bore his name, became more engrained in American culture after director Robert Zemeckis used a DeLorean as a time machine in the 1985 film "Back to the Future" and its two sequels. <img src="http://i.a.cnn.net/cnn/2005/US/03/20/obit.delorean/vert.delorean.ap.jpg" border=0> "RickUSN- That was intelligent and useful Mudd. Wasn't he GM's maverick exec that shoehorned a V-8 into a Tempest to create the GTO in '64? "Duct tape is like the Force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together...." - Carl Zwanzig Edited by - 30mike-mike on Mar 21 2005 04:25 AM |

Not sure, but he certainly shoehorned 20kg of Columbian White into a suitcase for the Feds... "A .44 magnum beats 4 Aces everytime..." |

He OK'd the media ads for "The Wide Track Look" which are credited with the success of Pontiac in their selected demographic. Never mind that, he was the corporate executive "Trophy Wife" champion of the '70's, with Christina Ferrare.
