Depressing picture here, the first Carrera GT to "bite the dust"
The caption on the pic said that it was testing at California speedway and lost control into the retainning wall....... $440.000 down the drain !

Ouch. Until you see how fast they were going, it doesn't look like there should have been fatalities.

It's your Donald Duck I'm afraid.

A prototype Macca F1 barrel rolled at nearly a ton eighty and the test driver walked away, OK, stagered away un-hurt.

People die in 20mph impacts even with 8 air-bags.

All it takes is a seat belt not to be positioned well and your head comes into contact with the A pillar and it's lights out at that speed.

All the same, it's a shame for both the passengers and the car...

Here is the link to the news story with photos. The passenger side took the hit against a concrete barrier at over 100 mph.

Here is a link to a message board that I frequent and the driver was also a member of. Many people on this forum knew him. Take time to read the entire thread. Very sad.

Hogmender,

I read the whole thing from start to end and it's very touching. He must have been one hell of a guy for so many folk to have posted tributes.

It also shows that real community spirit can live on something as un-real as the internet.

The guy died doing what he loved.

We should all be so lucky.
