I'm doing serious periodic maintenance on my 928(mounts, shocks, etc) Well, i got my old shocks out, and for some reason, the replacement factory Boges were much different than the ones i removed. Why, do you ask? Well because my P-car has factory BILSTIENS. ![]() Just got off the phone with the fine folks at 928 specialists, and they're hooking me up with an excellent deal for replacement Bilstiens. Happy times....even if the car is going to be down for another week now. I'm only second owner of this car, but between the shocks, the massive custom racing radiator, and the inexplicalble extra 70hp my car seems to possess, it's VERY clear the previous owner was a damned serious performance enthusiast. I am indeed a very lucky 2d owner. There are two kinds of soldiers. Snipers...and targets. |

You did the same thing that i did Snipe, except when my car was up on jackstands i happened to notice the red Koni racing shocks that were installed....this was very good to learn before i ordered the other ones. The previous owner absolutely treated that car well. "If you don't get caught everything Is Legal! " |

Can I take this thread somewhere that might be a little depressing... If somebody has gone for that sort of performance enhancement, it's probably a fair bet the car has exceeded 55mph at some point in its life. I'm not saying you can't drive a car hard AND sympathetically, I'm just hoping you had that kind of 1st owner. You're born, you keep your head down and you die. If you're lucky... |

I had an 82 Plymouth Reliant that could do that.... ...it just took 11 Miles of interstate to hit its 60MPH VNE... "The greatest pleasure is to vanquish your enemies, to chase them before you, to rob them of their wealth, to see their near and dear bathed in tears, to ride their horses and sleep on the white bellies of their wives and daughters." -Genghis Khan |

I'm sure he did whoop on it. I also know the motor was flat out made to take anything the owner could throw at it and keep going. When's the last time ya saw a motor that was put together like this? ![]() There are two kinds of soldiers. ... That's not an engine, it's a piece of art... Like I said, there's nothing wrong with working an engine hard as long as the driver lets it warm up first and just as importantly, lets it cool down after a blat before switching off the engine (especially if its got a turbo). Change the oil often and use good oil and any engine will last for 200,000. That beauty will out last the present owner ... Didn't I see that in Star Wars Ep.III? "Duct tape is like the Force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together...." - Carl Zwanzig |

LOL, what, the engine? .44, agreed. The 928S has a capacity of just shy of 10qts of oil, and i run strictly 15-50 Mobil 1 full synthetic. It also has a full race 4 core radiator with a massive 18qt cooling system capacity, as well as a full main stud girdle, and main head studs, to go along with it's high silicone content "Alusil" block. It's hard to imagine a more 'bulletproof' design than the V-8 in the 928. ![]() There are two kinds of soldiers.
