No, cold weather actually makes your et's worse because the tires and asphault are hard. On a good summer day in the staging lanes if you reach down and touch the asphault(or your tires) it will actually feel very sticky to the touch. Makes a huge difference in launch RPMs. When you factor in the extra hp from the colder air it actually exacerbates the situation, giving more power with less traction. Not a good mix.
I normally launch at 2000rpm with little wheelspin. Last thurs night at the track i was launching at 1600rpm and getting what i considered to be excessive wheelspin.(the whooped rear tires did not help im sure).
I ran a 13.67 last year on a good warm day with good meaty tires.
Heater, your GTO runs a 14.0 in IDEAL conditions. Had you been at the track with me last thurs. you'd have probably been turning 14.5's or thereabouts. Everyone's times sucked. My cousin's supercharged miata's best run was a full .45 sec slower than his summer times. My uncle also went, and his big Supercharged Olds that ran a best 15.4 in July ran a best time of 16.1 last thurs.
There was also a guy with a new 05 mustang with some mods that could barely even match the bone stock advertised 13.8 e/t the new stangs are capable of.(he should've been at about a 13.2 or so with the cold air induction and computer recalibrations he was running).
Anyhoo, if you want to race miss all you need to do is ask....you know that.
