My system for the most part is identical to AK's but I am curious to know what operateing system he is running. Also as to what Build of Beta he was evaluateing. Dont know if i'll ever get used to a non hands on cockpit. Feels to restricting....

Now would I do that? Hey the Viper already has Falcon4, it's about time the A-10 got a good sim!

His system spect were...

Pentium 4, 2.0 GHz processor
ASUS P3V4X/533 FSB motherboard
On-board sound
512MB RAM
VisionTek GeForce4 Ti4400

I think he was using one or two builds below where they are now.

Your anti-Viper opinion blinds ya to the realities of what hardcore flight simulator fans like myslef want. So please dont take offense to what my expectations of a flight sim are.

I Flew tactical aircraft for a long time, and I still to this day work in designing and building better tactical aircraft and systems for this great nation of ours. My expectations are high.

Those of us that flew vipers still giggle and laugh at what a fraud Falcon 4 and all their fan based Super patch varients are. they still dont have it right. The mulitplayer issues are less than to be desired too.

What Falcon 4 offers is full fidelity hands on activity. And this is why Falcon 4 is still around and invested on by fans, long after the "designers" and manufacturers folded.

But what i do like about these sims like Janes F/A-18e is their is more to tactical aviation than hot keys and so forth. Some of us feel more comfortable applying oursleves and following our habited procedures and operateing the avionics hands on.

You get none of this in L0MAC, just preset actions. the game does it for you. no manualy sweeping the radar, no TDC operation. no way to refer to your posit other than "somewhere on this radial of this steerpoint".

I agree that more tactical aircraft need to be implemented into sims. And I was gravely dissapointed that Janes A-10 was axed. The history and realism of Janes products by far would have surpassed what LOMAC is offering now.

LOMAC is pretty and I like the enviroment conditions it gives you a good stick and rudder feel. But as an aviator I find it very limiting in abilities. NO TACAN navigation. NO DME, ETC. Will there be an ATC? from what i hear, anything related to real world "piloting" is missing.

I feel if they included a clickable hands on cockpit, more interaction with ground forces, FACS, TACP. Returning Fighter Breifs before you go on station to take over the scene " they would have the most solid sim to this date. A sim that will be invested upon long after its release.

Some of the features i enjoyed in Janes f/a-18e was the simplified FAC(A) a 9 line or 4 line brief, a vector and distance to the target with a description. Very simple and effective, You could also request a new target or call blind to recieve more targeting information.

Another fun feature in the mission builder of janes F/A 18e was the ability to create strike packages. you could assign differnt missions with differnt aircraft for online players. If anyone needed assistance they could call on eachother and describe in detail exactly where they were and their targets location. THe Bullseye, GPS, TACAN all came in handy for this. It really built upon individual growth and teamwork. This worked well for those that wanted to focus on a specific role and aircraft.

LOMAC to me seems to be designed around a console arcade game approach. Which makes me wonder if it will be release on Xbox or playstation anytime soon?

My questions on Andy's systems was to what operating system he was running this will make a big differnece in performance. Windows 98? windows 2000, windows NT, Windows Xp. Hardware wise we are identical.

Dont Get me wrong i'll spend a great deal of time flying LOMAC online with you and my other friends. My Hope is that LOMAC will be invested upon after release to incorporate more real world aviation application.

You got to ask yourself this DICE. Wouldnt it be great to plan a mission, walk out to the Jet, Preflight, Ground Start,( this means hands on cockpit) salute your virtual crew dog, taxi out and await clearance to take off. and follow real naviagation procedures to and from the target areas? On your return home you can breif the follow on flight what targets you hit and what intel they need to continue putting the hurt on the enemy. Im hopeing in some form that this will be provided.

Your in a position now to experiance that and implement things of this nature. I hope that Eagle Dynamics will accomplish this.

So is the A10 community going to get a good sim?

ok ok , you can call me an asshole again, but i still love ya buddy!

No offense taken, different sims/games (depending on your world view) for different people. I for one don't have the time for a hardcore sim like Falcon4 but, what more then Jane's USAF, I feel LOMAC will give me this middle of the road sim I desire.

Sorry but no, I do not what to spend an hour (the only hour I have to play) Planing a mission, strating engines, aligning INS, and doing all the other things needed to do a "real" mission in a real aircraft. I want to have fun playing fighter pilot not be one.

I'm not in a "position now to experiance that and implement things of this nature." My only job with LOMAC is to help make the features they do have in the game as close to real life as I can, not to add new ones.

I'm sorry to say LOMAC will not be a hardcore sim upon release (IMHO) and it will lack features, like clickable cockpits, hardcore simmers what but, that's the way it is and it's too late in the "game" to change that.

I also lookforward to some good onine play with friends!

Damn dude quit editing before I can type a responce!!! Now you will have to wait...I have to go play in the ORI! Hopefuly we can always disagree and still be friends!

fastest games platform is WIN 98SE, but u have to rebuild it every month or so and it can crash occasionally..

XP is the platform that ppl are most happy playing games with because it has the stability of 2K but with the games potential of 98

and thats roll some die.. roll a dice
