I was reading this in Av-Week, it is from a show and tell from Northrup/Grumman for the aviation press, demonstrating some trends and ideas for the future as seen by N/G regarding un-manned platforms.

I'm typing this right out of Av-Week magazine.

"There's also an updated alternative to the A-10. A design that Northrup Grumman wont relaese involves a 71ft wingspan(with winglets)37.5ft long attack aircraft with at leaste 8 weapons pylons to carry a 10,000lb payload at mach 0.6. It is a twin boom design with three engines placed above the wing, with the exhaust flowing between the booms and under the elevated horizontal stabilizer.
While the image (boomer: there was no pic in the mag) used by advanced projects officials shows the tricycle-landing-gear aircraft loaded with ordinance, planners say there is also an option to carry a refueling pod or a troop compartment to allow the air drop of six or seven combat equipped parachutists. Cruise altitude is projected at 30,000-33,000ft. It is designed to work with JSTARS or E-10 multisensor command-and-control aircraft."

Sounds like it would look a little like the old OA-10 Bronco.

No it was just a HEAVILY modified A10... with a gun turret, and engines in the wings.... and that whole tilt wing thing :D

Overkill??? I'd kill a fly with a howitzer if I had one.

Goose it is my sons birthday today. He is a Big fan of the A10, and we probably have 10 or so differnt toy manufacture types around the house. I pointed it out to him (gi Goe Sky Stryker) and if you thought i am "Bitchy" lol should of heard him "What the hell!...yada yada yada down to the rivits he was assaulting this toys character"

I couldnt help it but laugh. Yep i see him as a fighter pilot in the next 10 years. Attention to detail and love of airframes!

That sounds like a really interesting idea, and I'd like to see some artists' sketches, though I suspect it will die in the way of SABA.

Regarding Frogfoot and some current suspicions, he is NOT me. Despite the chain-pulling, frog-themed gifts I handed to Clan Hodges this May, anyone that has met me KNOWS I couldn't bring myself to such poor gramatical and spelling standards. lol

I may have froglegs, but I ain't Frogfoot. lol

Thanks for your support, Goose. It's good to know I won't end up sitting on the toy production line, an enfeabled grin on my face to match the blank stare, and a large, square, semi-healed scar cut out of the top of my head. lol
