Here in the UK the BBC have just done a report from Afghanistan which included a nice look a the A-10A's at Bagram. Star of the show was a lady Hog driver.

If it was the same gal that brought the damaged Hawg home awhile ago, she's also the one that emptied the 30mm drum while I was there. Came home with 80 rounds left! I think her call sign is Xena (or something like that).

Well, here's my Bagram report...

It's cold and raining!!! AGGGHHHH!!!!! And all the fun has been taken from us. Although I can say that the living conditions have improved since my last stay here.

Missed Raven and 30mm by a couple weeks.. but so goes the story. They did their time and now I'll punch my timecard.

I'll do my best to keep you all informed on the happenings as best as I can.

Hey, Weasel 80-204, Has all that dust turned to mud? Has the air at least cleared up, or does it rain mud, too? They asked me if I wanted to replace my replacement after Christmas...I respectfully declined (*&%#@ NO!) Hot and dusty was bad enough, somehow cold and wet sounds worse. Is Capt Angela M. still the J2? Enjoy your visit!

Yeah it's ALL Mud now. I got the distinct opportunity to see it up close today. I was screwing around and was being chased by another Crew Dawg, steped into the lovely pile of rocks in front of the APG tent and proceeded into the mud. Needless to say my coveralls are trashed.

That particular Capt I am not sure of. Haven't spent much time out of our "Hole" here.

You should've replaced him. We could've made snow chiefs to launch out the planes together!! LOL

Oh, yeah, forgot about the %#$@ rocks. Everyone walks like a Starwars AT-AT! Snow chiefs, eh? And maybe frozen mud bombs on the racks? LMAO! Sorry, dude, not enough incentive to do a winter tour!

No, I already lived out my Star Wars experience on the way here. We stopped in "Tattoine", and I am not joking. It looked like they filmed all the scenes for the movie there! And they parked us so far from everything, we nick-named our "ramp" Docking Bay 94!

Oh well. We'll have to arrange a meeting somewhere that we can have a beer or two during the conversation. I might be rolling through your neck of the woods after I get back. Driving from AZ to MI is a b%&^h. I think it would be a good side trip.

Good deal. You almost have to go through STL to get there! Look forward to it.

Dice, I wouldn't forget you. I've been in contact with a gentleman from Utah who has a set of doors for my Uncle's project car. The plan so far is for myself and my wife to go to Utah, retrieve the doors, and take them to Michigan with us. Those MI winters really don't help when you're restoring a 1968 'Cuda for Drag Racing. I think it'll fit in our SUV but I'm sure it'll be a trailering deal.

Save on shipping and get to see family all at the same time!! Whoo-Hoo!!

30mm:

I know, last time I drove (all 44 hours straight!!) I ended up looking at the "Arch". I guess my wife (girl-friend at the time) thought I was going there to see the Sights. We'll just keep it between us that I was uh, you know....

Xena did just get back, but she doesn't really have a southern accent, and she is not the one that got all shot up.

If I remeber correctly, for now it's a 440. Unsure about the induction. Future plans are a 426 Hemi. It's been an ongoing project ever since I can remember. It's also been 3 cars too. So 20 years X 3 cars that are all in pieces. Yeah, I told him it'll be a Miracle if it gets done before the Woodward Dream Cruise of 2004. Although if it does, the 440 is built and has been tested in his friend's '69 Dart. think it ran low 11's. I don't ave my Uncle's e-mail but as soon as I talk to him again I'll get the details for you Snipe.

Are you gonna make the trek to Detroit this summer for the Cruise? It's a blast. That's my plan as of yet, get the doors to Michigan, he'll get them painted (2000 Viper Gray I might add) slap them on, fire the car up, and off we go to the Cruise.

Go there my friend. If you love cars, ANY car, they have it there. It's almost 10 miles of nothing but classic cars, concept cars, custom cars, Exotics cars (Snipe!!), and usually each of the Big Three have about a block to themselves to showcase their "wares".

It's the Biggest "one day" party in the world. Check it out. I think it's August 14th this year.

And you would fit right in.

Hopefully I will. It's all about the leave and drive time. I missed out in 2002 because I was coming here. And I missed this years because of another work issue. So I'm trying my damndest to make 2004's.
