I'm building a list of items and website where you can find A-10 related stuff for any Warthog fan. I have Dru Blair's "Thunderstruck" print, LOMAC, and of course The Warthog Territory shop. Please list any products (and their website URL) you know of so I can add them to my list. I'm leaving on a TDY Monday so I need your inputs ASAP so I can post the information on my site sometime tomorrow.

BTW I'm headed to San-An-tone Monday for a Presision Engagement Meeting and wouldn't you know it, it's being held at a hotel on the river walk were we will be staying...it's a tough job but someone has to do it!!

Ahh the river walk. That place was cool. Just don't go peeing on the Alamo!!!

By the way, I got the DVD yesterday! Excellent!! Better than we all expected. We watched it right when we got into work yesterday.

Visit Lackland for, oh, say, 6 weeks, then see how disappointing it looks!<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hajji, you can run, but why die tired?

Hey Dice on Historicaviation.com there is a great print of an A-10 from the 131EFS over Kosovo. The print is called 'Thunder Over Kosovo'and it is of a Battle Creek jet climbing out after a pass.

By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson

Dice

Plane Crazy has a nice A-10 t-shirt at http://www.planecrazyent.com/htm_web_pages/htm_tshirts/tshirts.htm#a10. They are closed until 14 Dec but swear they can get orders in before Christmas.

As for the Alamo City, spent three years there. It is really a nice place, steer clear of the obvious bad areas (which will be readily apparant) and you won't have any problems. Head to the Hill Country if you get a chance to sitesee...Helotes, Bandera, lots of great places. There is actually a string of missions along the river, the Alamo being the most famous and most intact; but the others are worth a visit. See http://www.lsjunction.com/facts/missions.htm for more info. Go on one of the river boat rides, it is a lot of fun and a great way to take pics on the river. See http://www.sanantoniocvb.com/visitors/things_attra.asp for more local attractions...

Hopefully you'll be able to check this while you are there otherwise it is great info a few days too late!

Cheers! M2

Be happy you aren't in Belgium, the crude here lasts 6 months to a year...

I digged S.A., but Lackland isn't a place you want to be around on Friday afternoons...basic training graduation means the BX is swamped with the new airmen and their families. You try to rush in, get what you need, and get out; but the old timers love to block your way and tell you about their days in the Army Air Corps. Not that I don't like hearing great war stories, it is just that when it is 100+ degrees outside, and you've just finished a tough week (I schlepped for a two-star for a while, so I had a lot of tough weeks!), the beer light is on and you want to get home and knock down a couple of cold ones.

I had a bud who was a training sqn/cc, helped him serve Thanksgiving dinner at one of the chow halls a few years back. I still feel sorry for the basics, we've all been there and done that (me twice, I went to my AFROTC camp across the street from my BMTS dorms...talked about deja vous!) but it still bites. I no kidding had an AB report to me in the AAFES food court to ask me where the bathroom was! Poor soul, I hope he has relaxed a little since then...

Cheers! M2

I learned my lesson a few years back as a young Captain. I was at Brooks/Randolph for Life Support Officer School (3 days of material stuffed into 2 weeks). One day after class I made my way to Lackland to check out the BX (still in my flight suit). Holy cow, want an ego boost quickly?? If I had been dreaming I may have thought I was the president the way those Basics reacted to seeing me.
The other thing I learned was NEVER go to the Lackland BX barber shop and ask them to "cut it kinda short". I looked like a tennis ball and didn't need another haircut for 3 months!!

Cheers...

Warthog30

I can relate! A bud of mine who flies FREDs with the Reservists at what was Kelly AFB (now called "Kelly Field" but a part of Lackland) used to like to go to the BX with some of those "Bubba's Teeth" you can buy at WalMart and walk around and talk to the trainees/junior airmen. He'd rave out how well the USAF takes care of you, especially dental care, with these gawd awful fake teeth in his face. I know it is demented, but it was always good for a laugh!

Seriously, I once had an AB salute me from the back of his parents' car! Probably because his pop about ran me over in the crosswalk!

Still, loved Texas and would gladly go back. It was nice to be able to celebrate the 20th anniversary of my entry into the USAF at the exact spot where our TI was yelling at us to "Pick them up...put them down...pick them up..."

Cheers! M2

Thanks Dice for the info! I found a new project for M&M for his present---a massive Warthog I have to cross stitch. I am gonna make him put it up in his office at work. Hope he likes it!
