OK, for some of you (other) old timers out there, I was told pilot's got the following patch after firing a live MAVERICK in the 1980's. This particular one came from the 512th TFS at Ramstein when they still had F-4E Phantoms...

So, fact or fiction?

Cheers! M2

True! Raytheon provides patches to every pilot that fires a Maverick (peace or combat). The peacetime patch is a spin-off the one you have here (I've got one somehwere around here). I also have an OIF Maverick patch somewheres. When I find it, I'll scan it and put it up here for ya.

I t sure want funny at the time, but to look back on it now I would have loved to see the face of the guy when he 'pickled' it off! I was down the road in the ICT spots witht he beach whn a weapons guy dropped a mk82 picking it up off the trailor. I didnt know I could run that fast!
