Someone ought to send the drawing to the guys working PE. That is exactly what they are trying to develop...a 300 kt Viper.

Finally! Someone that sees the light and isn't enamored with all the new whiz-bang gizmos they're trying to bolt on.

If I could only convince the rest of the "With all the upgrades we're getting, the A-10s gonna be around til 2090. You'll see!" crowd, I might have hope.

I'll believe things when I see them, since I've seen enough lip service in my time. Hog up is already canxed with, what, about 60 airframes that'll go unmodified?

Weren't F-111s still getting upgrades installed as they were being sent to AMARC, merely because they were already paid for?

Not that necessarily applies to the A-10; my point being that upgrades don't necessarily mean retention for another 10 years.

Aluminum bottom?

Hmmm.

I'd think the bottom would be the most oft struck part of it.

Can you tell what the threat was that they/you were trying to counter?

<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>

We were paranoid about the ZSU-23/4, SA-6, SA-8 at the time, probably those were the main threats.

Can sparticus safely assume that a10stress did not see a working copy of this stealthy beast? Could it have been built as a 2 seater? <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>

It is very safe to assume. Considering the low budget we worked with to make the one 2 seater out of tail #664, it could be done in a hanger anywhere in the country. Hey, what was that book that theorized a "stealth" B-52? They made that thing in a place called Dreamland. That's where the 2 seat A-10X is, Dreamland.

And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier."

I read that book. <i>Flight of the Old Dog.</i> They put HARMs and AIM-120s on the thing too.

I think there's enough room in the f-117's bays for gun pods. That would probably be easier than trying to stealth an a-10.

May I humbly suggest Dice's first novel be named "Flight of the Old Hog".<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Ouch! Sounds like a dice-y title, to me.
