I've got a few questions. I'm currently an F-16 Crew Chief stationed at Kunsan and I have a follow-on to Moody AFB. Man oh man, I'm excited about getting to switch airframes and learn all i can about this jet, but I'm curious about how difficult the transition will be. Has anyone here had to do it? Any tips or suggestions?
Along with that, I see we have some people here that are stationed at Moody, Can you guys give me any info about the base, ops tempo? Shoot me a pm if you have to. I've done about as much research as I can about the base and the city of Valdosta, but some first hand experience would be nice. Thanks for the help guys.

As a newer A-10 guy myself from the F-16 side...I'll tell you what a lot of Hog folks have told me...

First off to remember...very important from the Viper side...The A-10 was designed for the ARMY! Nuff said??? This jet is a piece of cake to maintain for AF people who are used to maintaining high tech killing machines. The A-10 used to be a low tech killing machine, but welcome to the new age of the Hog. F-16 tech on a 35 year old machine...new age of the Hog! From my own experience on the F-4 Phantom and the F-16...the A-10 is a maintainers DREAM! The USAF couldn't have designed a simpler aircraft to work...but they did with the A-10. This is the easiest jet I've ever worked...and the most deadly!

Welcome to the HOG!

Haha, so it's safe to say that the A-10 is \"Army proof\". Good to hear. I work TA here in Kunsan, so I've gotten to turn a few A-10's and it seems simple enough. I look forward to learning all that I can and making the most out of it. Thanks for the quick reply.

You're not going to be in a small minority at Moody - We've got a LOT of non-A-10 people here. Every F-15 and F-16 person I've spoken too agrees the A-10 is easier to work.
Where are your order too - Flightline? Phase? RNLTD?... If you have a list of questions about the base, area, work (services, weather, housing, local area...) It's probably easier to talk back and forth than type, wait a day for an answer, type, repeat- You can call the 75th APG office if you want to talk DSN 312-460-7084. I work Swings, ask for Jack.

It is actually good to hear that I won't be a minority not being a traditional A-10 guy. Now that shreds are a thing of the past, it's probably going to be harder to find guys that have stayed on the same airframe their entire career. Thanks for the input. I will give you a call, I just need to figure out the time difference over here in Korea :D

I think Korea is 14 hours ahead of East Coast?

Based on a couple of threads here, I'd say one of the most important things to learn about the Hawg is where the various antennae are. [cuss]

Just an update, I shot a couple emails and found out I'm on the inbound list to the 74th. Anybody here work there? I'm aware that the majority of the unit is currently \"unavailable\" for comment, but I really need to make some connections :D

No one from the 74th posts here, I doubt anyone from the 74th even visits this site.
I've had my last day of work already, and since the 74th is gone, all their leftover stragglers are in the 75th for the time being. If you want to get in touch with any of them, just call the APG office number we spoke on the other month, and ask for anyone from the 74th.
