Sorry,
I just finally got back to the states, after more fun in the sun. Listen.....the teeth are not the reasons, the public affairs are not the reasons, the A-10s are the reasons that we are all the best. And no pointy nosed vacuum jockey can claim to have done what ALL (Guard, Reserve, or Active Duty) have done. Brothers to the bone, and death to all that come our way. As for the 442nd (my unit), we live in the shadows of our Active duty hosts (much like any other Reserve Wing)....which is fine by us. But our PA is working on some information (once it is declassified) to share with the world. So to all of you, be proud, be strong, we're hogs. And they can't live without us. And to the grunts posting here!.....Just doing our job man. That why we are here, for you!

as a member of the genaral public...
I would like to say that those teach do look mighty cool... the warthog mouth that were painted on so researve units look sweet too... but i love the sharkmouth of the flying tigers.... i even painted them on my boat....
So theres an opinion about them....from just anybody.. so in a sence i am agreeing that the 74th do have a big publicity advantage over the other squadrons....

BUT LOOK AT YOUR WING,ISNT IT REALLY THE BIG PICTURE GRABBER THE "B-2'S"?

The B2s are the 509th Bomb Wing, we are the 442d Fighter wing. In no way one and the same, just forced to live on the same patch of ground.

Not really, just tired of everyone else getting credit for what we do. Like the article this summer in Citizen Airman that said the 442d was in Iraq and were being supplemented by personell from the 926th.

Who are they? I never saw any of them with us out there! It was all 44nd 303rd in both FOLs. (Making us the first in airforce history to acomplish this task!) But don't worry, history will show us.

MeSo fill me in on the FOL's. I think.........well disregard that because I know where you were for the first FOL. I was just curious about the second but I think I can figure it out. Never mind me, I am just thinking out loud again.

By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson

You're not alone with the "no recognition" thing. We (Battle Creek) were there with Boise for over 6 months along with some extras from PA and some extra jets from MD. We were there when the action started and we were the first ones into the "T" Fol. We got there with nothing but a box of mre's and an M-16 and were told to set up a working flightline! The Fod walk alone took all day picking up blown up pieces/parts and debris by hand and rattle canning taxi lines etc.
We then gave the keys to you guys.
I'm not trying to steal your thunder or anything! I think that the A-10 community as a whole should get one helluva ATTA BOY! We have all made many sacrifices in the past few years and there were alot of A-10 units represented "Over there"
It doesn't matter if it's Active, Guard, or Reserve, If it's an A-10 it Kicks ASS!!
Aren't we all on the same team anyway?

Man this place has really gone down hill, now it's all about who's little piggy "cork-screw" is bigger than whos! I guess because one unit was tasked with one thing and another unit was tasked with something else (even if both completed their tasks as ordered) one is better than the other?

I have always been proud of each and every A-10 unit be it Active, Guard, or Reserve but this is BS... Every A-10 units did it job during OIF...and it's job was to do what they were told, when they were told..even if that was to sit home and contune things there, are they less than you now!

I guess us "noners" are....well, I guess I realy don't want to know what you guys think of us do I!

it wasn't the 442nd who was first in the "T" FOL. A few other units had hand in setting that one up. Just thought that should be said

You want to be noticed...do something about it! The below info was sent to me by Col. Miclon of the 103rd, he doesn't just say "O' that's just the Active duty for ya!" he makes people stand-up and notice his unit...maybe you (and your bosses) could learn something from him!!

I'll get off my soap-box now and leave you guys to your bitchin'

OK HAWGS! Enough of this stuff. If you read the orginal message that opened this, the point was to make everyone aware of all participation of ALL A-10 communities. (Active, Guard, and Reserve). It was thoughts from a young man in the field, giving an example of what was going through alot of our minds out there, as we listened to news reports of F-18's and F-15's. THIS WAR IS A HAWG WAR! Make no mistake about that fact!
As for the FOL's SSgt. Flex - BC was the 1st in T however, KC arrive only 2 weeks after you and then "set up" operations without AJ support, and then did it again in the north. Once again, the first air unit in USAF history to do this. This is a props to all A-10 units. Not just KC. Only the USAF HAWGS are tough enough to do this. No pointy nose could ever do this.

Now, fellows, lets look forward to the pentegon seeing us all as assets not liabilities! A-10's win wars!
-Lets put this to rest now!-

I guess I read more into the first post than I should have! I think we all agree, we're just wording it different!
My hats off to all the Hog units!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Yeah that whole thread was rather embarrasing. Dice you humble us all.............really I mean it. I think that since the first Gulf War the A10 community has such a chip on its shoulder that it has taken to fighting amongst themselves. I have become very weary of patch wearing pilots that tell me that our unit is the envy of every A10 unit in this galaxy. Unit pride is great it really is but no man is an island unto himself.

By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson

You're right Hawg166, be proud of what your unit has done but not at the expence of another Hog unit!

Here is a good link.

I think it should be read for this post.

Very well said HOGFIXER

I know what it is like finding and fixing IRAQI jeeps and using talkabout radios and the like. We had nothing to start with. No help from AJ, at "set-up" operations to start turning sorties.

Goose you hit the nail on the head. I thought Dice had did the best job of dressing down the rhetoric but Buddy you are the heat. No wonder we love you so much around here. <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>
