The last of the three fighter squadrons attached to the 23rd Tactical Fighter Wing \"Flying Tigers\", returned from Operation Desert Storm on 29 March, 1991. Their return was broadcast live on KALB NewsCentral 5, the local NBC affiliate. This is that broadcast. It's almost an hour long.

You'll see Capt. Tony \"Mad Dog\" Mattox from the 74th TFS being interviewed by his wife, Leslie Mouton (a reporter for KALB at the time). You'll also see an interview with Capt. Dale Storr, the first A-10 pilot shot down in combat. The day the 76th returned from Desert Storm was the first time he would see any of his squadron brothers since 2 February, 1991, the day he was shot down. You'll also see the family of Lt. Eric Miller, who was Capt. Storr's wingman the day he was shot down. You'll also see some of Capt. Storr's reunion with Lt. Miller.

http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/categ ... 692KtsSH4F

I haven't uploaded it to a site where you could easily download it, as it's a 181MB file, and that's at medium quality. A high quality video would have been over 1GB in size. If you want to download it, you can use one of the \"video grabbers\" that are out there.

Update: To watch the entire video, the video web site I've been using, Veoh, requires you to download and install their video player. If you don't install the player, you'll see a five minute preview of the 57 minute video.

I figured I'd sent you all I had. I've got to take another look for my copy of the belly landing. If I can't find it, I'll have to see if I can "borrow" your copy. By the way, I can send you all these videos on DVD if you'd like. That's how I got them onto the computer to upload. They're on DVD now.

I transferred the video from the '89 trip to Germany to DVD, and am wondering what the former Vanguards and Flying Tigers here would like to see. Got video of a ride in a German Leopard II tank. Also got video of a softball game between the maintenance folks and the pilots. Col Renuart pitched for the pilots. And, for those that were there, I've got video of the "jam session" (Americans and Germans hanging out playing guitars and singing) after the main festivities at the "going away party" the Germans threw for us before we left.

The only video of A10s I've got from Germany is a short clip of a couple of our A-10s taking off at Lech.

Also got some video from Hamburg, and video from our trip to Legoland. I'll also go through my videos of various air shows at England AFB, and try and pull out the A-10 demo, if it's a good video.

You most definitely can. I'm assuming DVD would be better. I've got most everything on DVD now, I believe. I've got to perform another search for the tape of the belly landing, but other than that, I've got everything on DVDs. E-mail me an address, and I'll burn some more DVDs and drop them in the mail.

I don't think it's on any of those. It's been so long since I've seen it, I don't recall what tape it might have been on. I'll do some looking this weekend. I'll mix in a search for photos of 0248 for Pat's World.

I've got a dual DVD Recorder/VCR combo. I can copy from DVD to VHS and VHS to DVD. I just stick the tape in the machine, a blank recordable DVD disc in the DVD side of the machine, and click the Dubbing button on the remote. The recorder pops up a message asking if you want to copy the tape to the disc. You hit OK, and off it goes.

I've got a video capture card on my computer that I can plug camcorders and VCRs into, and capture straight from the tape. But, video capture can really drag the CPU down, so I don't use that anymore. I dub the VHS to a DVD, and import the DVD into my editing software.

There are commercial services that will transfer VHS to DVD. I believe you can even get it done at Walmart. Three or four years ago, I bought myself a DVD Recorder/VHS VCR combo for Christmas, and am really glad I did. That's the single most useful tool I've got for getting video tape to a format that I can work with on the computer.

I'll let you know. Do you want the videos as they are online (opening title sequence, etc.) or do you just want the "original" source video? I can get you either one.

I'm thinking I might burn high quality versions of the files I've uploaded, and put together a DVD with all that on it.

Special thanks for posting all of your archived video stuff, Carroll! It's very interesting for all Hog enthusiasts around the world, and it's clearly an addition to the A-10 history books.

On my Warthog News blog, I already posted the following to push your video stuff: http://warthognews.blogspot.com/2009/11 ... -stuff.htm

Kind Regards

The link you posted gets a "page not found" error. I went to your main page, and clicked through until I found the section with the videos I've posted on it. The link to that page is below: (the only difference I can see in the two addresses is the one you posted ends in .htm, and the one I post below ends in .html.)

Mac, I would like them in the original source video, the way they were made. I've shot you my home addy through PM.

Ok. That will make it easier. Just to see, I did burn a "high quality" version of the file I uploaded of the Return of the 76th. File size went from 190MB or so to about 3GB. If I ever do video production on a regular basis, I *definitely* need a faster computer with more memory and a better graphics card. It took several hours for my system to burn that high quality version of the file.

Mac,

I saw a Few of the \"Old Doors\" on some of the tapes, I don't know if you coan pull them out of the tapes.

I'm trying to get CJ to let me $$$ invest in one of those \"Transfer outfits\" that you can do everything with.
You can even take 8mm flim and transfer to DVD.

Cyberguys had one at one time pretty reasonable, but I'm wondering if I can get a PCI card for my Laptop that will let me do the samething???

Joe, I got in touch with some Old Scott Friends and if they have the Photo's I'm looking for You'll get a \"Early Christmas Present\".

Goose

I'll be burning your copies this evening (Friday, the 13th) and hope to get them in the mail tomorrow. If I don't get to the post office by the time it closes tomorrow, I'll send them out Monday.

I still haven't found the tape with the belly landing on it. If I do find it, I'll be sure and send you a DVD of that one as well.

I have found two different tapes with the East Coast A-10 demo videos on them. If the other copy I found would have been better quality than the one I eventually uploaded, I was going to re-dub it to DVD and re-upload it. But, I didn't see much difference in quality.
