JJ posted new A-10 artwork on his site today, nice piece of work EXCEPT the weapons load is wrong. A mav loaded on station 10?? You would think for the asking price the artist would have done better research.

JJ ,

You should of Caught that? It Really, Piss'off People Who have Worked or are Working on the Jet and See this kind of
\"Shotty, Un-RESEARCHED , MIS-INFORMED, Information that just keeps Snow Balling.

Nothing Worse than having a \"Never Been\" Tell YOU how your Jet was Loaded during GW1 and when you try to tell them otherwise they \"Co-Atude\" and then you PROVE IT, They go on the Attack.

I'm not prefect, but if its wrong it gets fix'ed. Fritz Sucked alot of $$$$ for the Pod mistake, I should of caught it.

Goose, I wasn't really aiming my comments at JJ he just posted the news article, I was saying the artist should have done better research. Remember when Dru Blair came to us when he did his \"Thunderstruck\" piece, we caught the fact he had a wrong loadout and he fixed it before finishing the work. This guy was commissioned by the AF so he should have had the entire Air Force at his disposal to check his work. The way the story reads his work will be used as a kinda \"historical\" piece and you're right with a mistake like that it will spread (or keep alive) mis-information.

I wanted to get a better look at the work but, the highest rez I could find was the one on JJ's site. No telling what other mistakes are on it, that was just the one that jumped out at me.

Thats the point,

If someone is going to Do \"Offical\" work for the USAF, they need to go to the ones Who know.

I screwed-up on Fritz's A-10 picture, The Tisle POD moved ahead just a \"Bit\"
You guys caught it. He fixed it and re-did all those Prints. I kept mine, It was my Fault. , but Others still miss it.
But its been fixed on his Prints.

Yes when Mr. Blair came to Us when pointed out the \"Issues\".
But When articles are posted on a \"A-10 site\" and its showing the Mistake and not pointed out my the Site, their Just as Guilty of the Mis-Information.

JJ , Should point it out to the Artist it wrong, and go to a \"A-10 Site of People who know First Hand\".

Sorry, but \"Dice\" must be wrong. Here's the related online picture of Rick Herter's great A-10 OIF \"CAS with Teeth\" artwork:

http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/airplanepictures_2079_11744758

Today, on my Warthog News blog I got the following commentary from \"Dice\":

On the \"CAS with Teeth\" the weapons load is wrong. An AGM-65 on station 10? You would think for that much moony he would have got that right.

Dice

My reply: AGM-65 Maverick is on the right place on station 9. Mounted on station 10 is a LAU-131 Rocket Launcher, and station 11 is empty.

See: http://warthognews.blogspot.com/2009/12 ... erter.html

Any comments from involved Warthog professionals?

Their still using the ALQ 119 PODS , I tought they went out in 1991, when they took them off our Jets before the War and put on ALQ131's?

They removed the Sidewinder Rails for OIF CAS missions?? Because Flying with an ALQ119 wouldn't the Jet be \"heavy to #1 side\" missing the AIM-9 Rails and mount on #2 side?

Flight Control Surfaces are all Flat or Netural, so if he's climbing and Dropping Flares isn't he Banking Left so He can see the Threat

The Pave Penny Pod Mount looks not in the right place, If the Mount rear almost lines up with the Canopy Break, In the picture it looks like the front is o close to the Break, Fritz's Mistake, Basically I didn't catch.

But You only asked for
\" Any comments from involved Warthog professionals?\"

Not from us \"Un Professionals Who Took them to the First Gulf War\", I guess Us \"Warthog Un Professionals just Jacked-Off
During the Air War and Ground War \" ,
Then I rather of Been an A-10 DCC for 6 years Then a \"Warthog Professional\" to Someone Who's Idea of the A-10 is a \"Money Tool\", Never having Gotten Your Hands Dirty, Bleed or Busted your Knuckles Twisting a Wrench on the \"Old Girls\".

Ok I'm ready, Just send me the email Joe, I'll go Quietly.

Looking at one of the articles referred to on JJ's blog, is the story about the activation of the 476th. There's a photo of a crew chief pulling a pilot's name off the jet, revealing the new commander of the unit's name. On the name placard being removed, I see the name "Renuart". That's not *our* "Mean Gene" Renuart, is it?

I knew he was wearing a star or two the last time I saw him. I saw him give a briefing once during the early days of Operation Iraqi Freedom, back in 2003.

But, still makes me wonder who the "Renuart" was who's name was being peeled off that airplane.

The ECM pod is an ALQ-184. Looks like a -119 but all new inside.

As far as the picture goes, the left wing looks strange in this perspective. Almost like the fuselage is too high. I can't remember at what point in OIF they took the AIM-9s off.

Otherwise, not a bad picture.

Yes sir! He was a pretty decent commander. Goose, did you watch the section on the Germany DVD of the Maintenance vs. Pilots softball game in Germany? Gen. Renuart both pitched and I believe played catcher in that game. <G>

It occurred to me one possible reason for seeing his name coming off that aircraft on the reactivation of the 76th FS. It may be that since he was the last commander of the 76th prior to inactivation, they were making him a part of a "change of command." You know, referring to the history of the unit. That's the only thing I can think of.

He was a Good Op's Commander, I never worked under the
\"New Systems\" But I sat in the Op's Briefing room in there area My last day in the Box talking to him, Laughing about \"GrandForks\" and a few other TDY War Stories we were on , and said Good Bye.

That was the last time.

I don't think he was the last commander of the 76th. I think the last Vanguard commander at Alex was Larry Reseter.

I wondered about that. I left EAFB before the base was shut down, so I don't know who was still there and who wasn't.

I'm still curious as to why the name Renuart was being pulled off that crew block to show the new commander's name.

My bad...Reseter was the last commander of the 75th at Alex.

But I am pretty sure Renuart was not the final Vanguard-1.
