We (122FW, IN ANG) received our first A-10A today from DM that will be used for maintenance and load training. 80-0168 landed code 1 after a 9 hour flight and I helped recover and tow it since I had the APG training at Moody a couple weeks ago. Can't wait for the whole conversion! ![]() |

The A-10 stay as A model and it is not going to be a C model? Just for load training. Just as the Green A-10 at Spangdahlem. It never flies again, but used for training on the ground and still a beauty. Have a nice and good time with the plane. See her in her flying days. http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA---Ai ... 1b8921c099 |

Cool pic Dutchy...another demo bird! She doesn't look that clean now, but not too bad. It's a maintenance and load training bird, and I doubt she'll fly again. Kind of like Moody's trainer (from Pope) that hasn't flown since '92 I think. The 781J shows she has over 10,000 hours. ![]() I've heard the AF wants to eventually convert it to a C, but I can't really see the point other than the cockpit layout. Not much changed to the rest of the plane with the mods. |

Ahh 168. I remember that one well. My buddy \"Gut\" was the DCC on it for a while. I think it was a good jet most of the time. Give her a slap on her ass for me. |

Those Bentwaters jets racked up shed loads of hours, 168 was with the 'Skulls' once. |

Weasel, you are mistake on this one. There are new connection for all the new weapons and targeting pods the C can carry. Things have been moved around, deleted, and added in all the pylons. Training a weapons crew on an A-10A to load an A-10C model would be like training a load crew on an F-4G to load a F-4E. Not to mention the switchlogy and system checks needed on an A-10C, not needed on a A-10A, that if you don't upgrade the aircraft for this training you might as well us the aircraft as a ABDR bird. |

Copy that Dice Man, I never thought of that. My mistake...only because I'm not a load toad. ![]() |
