Should freeze all ANG/AFR units from brutal cuts for another year hopefully. Looks like at least Congress \"gets\" the affordability of the ANG and Reserves who do the same job as the USAF for a lot less.

And now the Senate Armed Forces Commitee!

Yeah, you're right. In fact, the Guard and Reserve are SOOOO superior to AD, I don't understand how AD even still exists. We should get rid of it, and make everyone a weekend warrior. /sarcasm.

22 sorties is punishing? 2 months to do a phase? Do you still want to stick to that statement and say the Guard and Reserve do the same job as AD???

Spoken like a true AD guy. Clueless. Plus, maybe the author of the article has no experience in the subject. Your just a guard hater.

Lets not go down this road, I've been both active duty and reserves, both are important, both have their good and bad. leave it at that please.

I've also been AD and now ANG. Folks just need to understand they are different (part time ANG and AFR) compared to full time (AD) two or three shifts with enough manning to do a two week phase.

I'm just trying to get the message out there that the government is actually trying to save jobs...and the A-10 in the ANG. I only quoted what EVERY article about saving ANG jobs and aircraft state.

From the first link I posted.

Quote:
3rd District Congressman Marlin Stutzman led the fight saying the 122nd Fighter Wing operates at just 28 cents on the dollar when compared to an active duty base and it just makes sense if lawmakers are serious about tackling the national debt.

From the second link from the NGAUS (National Guard Association of the United States).

Quote:
In doing so, Senate defense leaders have joined the House of Representatives and the nation’s governors in rejecting the Air Force’s plan to cut its most economically efficient component in these challenging fiscal times.

I would think as small as the A-10 community is, we'd all be happy to see A-10s operational no matter who's they are rather than seeing 50-some A-10s heading to the boneyard. Also from a purely ANG standpoint, over 5,000 ANG full time and part time jobs are at stake.

It used to be \"all the capability for half the price\", now it's only 28 cents on the dollar?

Face it, AD is not the same as the Guard or Reserve. AD is ready, 24/7, not once every five years, unless you can find enough volunteers. It takes at least four squadrons to equal an AD squadron. Everybody has a role, play it and leave the others alone. Who should the AD people call when their unit is axed? Oh, it doesn't matter, we will just be PCS's to some other shithole.

Every one of these \"save the Guard\" articles is insulting to all AD folks, but we put up with it because we understand the cause. Just don't bring them around here and rub them in our faces. How many Guard bases have actually been shut down? How many AD bases? We aren't stupid.

This topic is aimed at the ANG. As there are a large number of ANG members and lurkers on this forum I will continue to post links as they come available providing some hope of our units survivability.

The links posted are from the United States House of Representatives and the Senate Armed Forces Committee. Argue and insult them.

In the current times of reductions we're all, active duty, reserve, guard, going to take cuts....but I don't want to see any A-10 units cut, I don't give a f*ck if they are active, guard, or reserve I just want my A-10s to continue flying.

I thought by now most AD people understood just how valuable the ANG/AFR really is. I guess the evolution of the A-10C is too far in the past now, but just a friendly reminder on that, without the ANG, the Hawg would've ceased to exist already.
