Hi,

Can anyone out there give me a difinative answer on this one.

During this exercise at Kotzebue Air Station in 1982, the 343rd composite wing then based out of Eileson AFB in Alaska tested a winter camo scheme.

The only pictures I have seen are from Janes Great Book of Modern War Planes (very small and inconclusive). It says that it was a black and white scheme. Squadron's Walk Around book shows a graphic and also shows black and white. I have found two other separate sorces that claim that it was simply a Euro 1 scheme with the light green sections painted over with white (Dark Green, Euro Gray, White).

Anyone know for sure, or have any other pics of this??

thanks

There is an ENLARGED image of that pic on this website under the images section.

Okay, here goes, this is what I got from somebody on this website a while back that either worked on the project of knew somebody who did, take it or leave it...

It is NOT black and white. What they did, is take white, latex housepaint and paint over the lighter of the two greens with a house-painting brush. He said it looked like crap up close, with all sorts of drips and runs, and was sloppily applied. He also said it BONDED to the paint beneath it, and had to be sent to depot to have it sand-blasted off. lol

Thanks for the info!

I had heard this too, and now have found a schematic from someone who worked with the USAF still photograph dipository to create graphics for books and such, and it confirms this.

Damn, black and white sure would have looked cool!

Here you go:

http://www.arcair4.com/Fea1/401-500/Fea455_A-10_Nagle/Fea455.htm

This is a site showing off a guys model, but he has the link to the schematic from Dana Bell.

It also shows the aircraft to be #221.

Enjoy!
