Are any of the SUU-30-based munitions still in use such as the CBU-52/58/71? How about the Mk20 Rockeyes in USAF use (I think the USN/USMC still uses them).

I've never seen them around, but they're still discussed in the 1M.

Yes to all questions.

Fender
Hands clear. All switches off, safe or normal. Gun hot or cold? No limit, you bet.

I think the answer to all questions in no, in terms of USAF inventories. The SUU-30 family of weapons along with the Mk-20 were phased out of the inventory about 6 years ago, in favor of CBU-87.

There may be some left over in some of the overseas depots, not sure about that.

I have heard several(or as Dice would say Servile ;) times that the Mk20 was withdrawn in the late 90's.

My question is why would we withdraw them instead of useing them all up in a war?(Like the last one for instance)

Rockeyes have a pretty potent anti-armor munition.

Oh well, probably more to it than i have heard.

TALKING ABOUT OLD BOMBS,

WE LOADED MK-82'S THAT WERE MADE AS EARLY AS 1967 IN THE GULF.
THE REAL STRANGE WAS THAT SOME OF THE TRIC THAT WAS USED IN THOSE BABIES CAME FROM JOLIET ARMY ARSENAL .MY MOM WORKED THERE IN THE "HANDLING AREA IN THE 60'S TO WHEN SHE DIED COMMING HOME FROM WORK IN A CAR ACCIDENT.
KIND OF GAVE ME A WARM FEELING THAT I COULD SAY THEY WERE PACKED"WITH LOVE,FROM MOM" <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>
