I think they (the A-10 pilots) like more the gun, becose of his GREAT power and the sensation they have when it fire :P

You can use either effectively.....the answer is the same as all good fighter pilot answers (it depends).

It depends on the threat. Do I need to stay as far away as possible from them? If so, I can use a K model mav and kill it from an easy 10 miles in the desert. Or I can use a D model and kill it outside of 3-4 miles.

If the threat allows, I can get in closer and kill 2 tanks per pass with the gun.

If it is a surprise to them, I might make the first pass with guns and then go use standoff to kill them with the mav.

Lots of factors go into deciding what type of ordinance you want to use.
