I was in contact with MR. Don Logan (author of the book I just got) today talking about door/nose art (thanks for hooking me up Gunsmoke) and he said he had a tee-shirt made for Hawgsmoke with this image....

Your door art is going to be famous dude! I told him the story behind the art so he knows where it came from. Do you want me to ask about how you can get one of these shirts?

Woo Hoo!!! I told Dad I wouldn't be living in a van down by the river!!!

Yeah Dice that would be cool. I'm really hoping to get to Hawgsmoke also. That'd be kinda cool to wear my door art there. I'll have to let my old DCC know also. Thanks Dice.

This was done a few years ago. We had decals made of our aircraft also. If you look closely at the decal sheet above the photo, you can kind of make out the door art there too. I haven't figured out how to enlarge the photo.

Hog Mender were you at Shaw in the 92-94 time frame and was this door art on your jet then? I remember this door art or one like it at Shaw during that time frame.

Sorry for answering for you Hogmender but, yes Fender he was at Shaw during that time and this was his art on 80-0229. 229 was Menphis Belle III befor becoming Swin Flew VI, read the link in my post above ^^^^

NP, Dice...fender, I remember we had this discussion a while back:). I was a Shaw from 93-96. I was on the Demo Team. Duane Peters was my DCC when I first got there, then I had Tim Darrah for a short time as my DCC. I then took over the jet. I was on 229 the entire time I was there. I also played in a band most of the time I was there. Cheap Shot was our name. I drove a blue Nissan 4X4 with a lift kit. I kinda remember you but can't put a face in my head.

I'm in the photo...look close at the decal.

Duane is my neighbor and one of the old P-1's is also. Do you remember MSgt Dijon? Most people called him DJ. MSgt Henton(ret) is still here as well. I still see a lot of the old 21st and 55th guys that stayed after retirement. MSgt Cimo(ret) specialist is still in the area and so is MSgt JD Prater (ret). Buddha is heading up the viper east demo team and I saw Bobby Starr just a couple of weeks ago. He was here from Pope doing QA on an engine change. Just in case you forgot I was in weapons flight. Did you go to Arkansas with us when Capt Runner Brown hit the powerlines? Or Vegas when he had the life support chic in the hot tub?

I don't remember Darrah but there was one crew dog I try to remember his name but never seem to be able to. He was an old engine troop (rivet force got him) and he always rolled his sleeves even when it was freaking 25 degrees out side. One other old dog was Dave Hart (Bucket Head). Then there was Izzy, Buddha's old lady Cindy and a few others I can't remember. To many beers and killed brain cells ago. Do you remember a crew dog named Dave Fain? I always wondered what happened to him. Last I saw him was when he was teaching AMQP at Shaw years ago. Major Mathes (ret) is still in sumter and I see him occasionally. Oh well I guess that is far enough down memory lane.
