I would say this one is from the 23rd when they were at England AFB because of the jet being green and the refrance to the "last tiger".

Thanks Bacon Bit, prkiii and I work 665 at Moody and I would have never thought of her for this door, I had the 23rd flying tigers in stuck my head for "the last tiger". Can you give me a time frame this door was on?

Dice,

If memory serves me correct 82-0665 was at woodbridge or that might have been 664...... I remember it being at moody, but could it have been at the beach? I remember both tail numbers just cant place them in a location. A little help here from others. Was it 82-0664 or 665 that was at woodbrisge in the 91st and had odie and garfield on the door. I believe John Morris was the DCC back then.

Finally got the art done. I did everything on my own except for the design. "T-bone" gave me the original pic of the tower and mountains. I just added a little touch myself. When in Bagram... paint a picture of Bagram! So add this to your collection cause when I get home it'll prolly be gone (damn ACC reg)

(I can't get the pic to come up right so thats the URL to it.)

I just noticed I have two doors with the "natural born killers" theme, is this an aircraft thing or something to do with Osan AB? Also what is the meaning of Pil Sung?

655 Ended up at Spang, went down Summer of '02...should be a thread around here about it. 656 is also at Spang.

Weasel_80-204: Gut's with you? He left a "lasting impression" at Bagram last time he was there...we ended up cleaning some of his art of of the porta-potty walls, and tore down the EOR shack he had tagged up.

You mean this one....

<img src="http://www.warthogpen.com/art_files/doorart17.jpg" border=0>

It does get confusing but, you get a little info here, and a little info there, and before you know it you have the story right. this is also why I'm trying to document all this info now before it gets so confusing the TRUE story is lost forever!

As a side note I got an email last night from a person who's stationed at Eielson and knows the CC and ACC of the aircraft that crash. They were very happy I had a picture of their door art because they didn't have one. You guys know how it is, taking a picture of you jet, or it's door art, is something you can always do tomorrow. Before you know it the opportunity is lost and you kick yourself for not taking the time to do it.

This (door art) IMHO is a peice of A-10 history which needs to be documented and keep because it's something no other airframe has. Yes they have nose art (sometime) but door art is something unquie to the Hawg!

A side not about 655's door art. From the beginning of my tour 'til the crash, she has a painting of the twin tour with Old Glory flying between them, and a quote from the Spiderman comic (I believe #1, and correct me if my wording is wrong...) "With great power, comes great responsibility." It was painted by then SrA McMillen (at that time, the ACC, who inherrited and became DCC of 985 when she got rebuilt...well delve into that some other thread...) Wish I had a pic for you Dice...

New guy here, greetings to all.

Thought I could help out with one of the door questions. The "Last Tiger" door was at England AFB when I was staioned there,86-88, and that acft was assigned to the 74th AMU, A flight. Hope that helps.

I've got a pic of 655's door from 1992, with the Union Jack/Old Glory handshake above the cloud, with the Hog flying in between.
The wording was 'Partners in Peace' and 'Victors in War'
That was in the time-frame that 655 was Col.Radcliffs jet.
The DCC was SSgt K.Verdon, ACC's SRA G.Lamphier and P.Amey

Greetings k-2, welcome aboard

First welcome aboard K-2 and thanks for taking the time to post what you know! That's pretty much the time frame I figured the door must have been on the jet, in fact I went ahead and made a page for it yesterday.....

http://www.warthogpen.com/door_art_history.html

Again a lot of good info from all and even if I don't have pics of each door I can still list the theme and maybe someone will come-up with a pic later down the line! Bacon Bits do you think you could post a pic of the door you have, even in small format, so my history is as complete as possable.

OK found these in my files (maybe you sent them Bacon Bits?) of 655 painted for gunsmoke 89....
