Someone at Pope got samrt! Since they can have "nose art" why not continue it to the door! Smart thinking!!

You might be a "Bulldog" if: You bend over and grab your ankles when you hear: "EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE!"

Damn I've seen that door somewhere....but where??? O'yea in Randy Walker's book "More Painted ladies"!! I guess 189 had a damaged door and got one from AMARC. Man that door has been sitting in AMARC sence Oct 1992 and I bet Pope has no idea what they have. I'm also pretty sure it will painted over soon...what a shame!

Coach, maybe you could let someone at Pope know what they have and at the very least have a high rez picture taken of it before it's lost?? Heck it might even make for a nice peice in the local/base newspaper or do you think that would draw attention to a subject that doesn't need it??

Thanks Hitler, you never know where you're going to find a little slice of A-10 history!!

Yeah that black fueselage is a dead give away. It must be old. Is that in one of the older books by Don Logan ? You are right though Dice that would be a shame to let go.

WOW. That is awesome. It's also in amazing shape, especially considering it is over 13 years old. I would have shit if I opened the box from coso and a door like that was in it.

LOL we think alike Jack, that door would end-up in the ops or maintenance building if I had anything to do with it. I guess if they had to go to AMARC for one there was no way to repair the old one and the aircraft needs to fly...art can't come ahead of the mission but, still a shame if it's lost.

I thought the depot was going to start making new doors, I even have pics of the "Jiggs" used to make them around here somewhere. Doors seems to be coming-up bad more and more these days and I know there can't be many left at AMARC.

BTW Jack any news door out your way??

Not yet. 187 just rolled out of phase last night though. The DCC was a little ticked off becuase ammo backshop took it upon themselves to decorate his gun muzze. Two reasons he didnt like it: 1)They did it to his jet without asking or anything, they just did it, and 2)It's been done already. They painted (not laser etched like DM) the POW/MIA logo on it. Now granted, it looks good, but I agree with him, it's been done. I'll try to post a picture next time I get a chance.
