That is a nice painted doorart. So far I see it, you can see nice details in the dress of the lady (mountains) and all the bombs in her bag. Here was an artist at work.

Weasel, no I don't have that one and it's a very nice one indeed. Could you do me a fav and email me that image, I seem it get a better image through the email rather that when I copy them off the net.

Dutchy I think she has a bag full of 30mm HEI rounds and not bombs. The only thing I can read on her dress in this image is Idado....what does the rest say?

email addy...

Dice Check your E-mail.

The Bag she's wearing says:

US NO.1
IDAHO
POTATOES
?NG PRODUCT
TWIN FALLS

The bag she's holding says the following:

Ammunition
30 MM Shells
And the Radiation Hazard Logo.

And a little trivia for you (since I was looking for what the sack she is wearing says)

WHO, is the girl? Hint: That's not the hair color she's famous for!!

Marilyn Monroe? I think Norma Jean Baker  Yes indeed, before she was famous and blond.
She wears to much clothes to be Betty page.

That is really cool. At first look, I thought that the 4th line on the bag was PRODUCE instead of PRODUCT. Either would make sense I guess. Still can't tell what it says before that though. Might be one of the neatest door arts I've seen.

Dice you know that my brain works on the same side as yours when it comes to stuff like this; all I can say is there is something about this one in particular. I'm just drawn to it, almost (for lack of a better statement) overwhelmed. I see not only the classic nose art that we would associate with WW II aircraft but also 60's era pop art and I dont know maybe a post modern expression about the multi faceted role of women. You know a real clear \"Ivory Girl\", but one that is hot enough to slap her butt before she leaves on a mission; one that maintanes that look of the girl back home on the farm but also carries the load like Rosie did. I just get this real kick in the pants from this one. I think I need to take it to Dr. Brodsky in the art department next time I am at the school.

Oh yeah and that face is definetly early Norma Jean. I almost see \"Marilyn Diptych\" by Andy Warhol, just without the sense that the image would fade and blur after repeated exposure. Dude I just love it! FOUR THUMBS UP !

Hawg166, I agree it has all the elements of a classic nose/door art and the work itself is just outstanding. I'm going to see if I can contact Bosie PA and get some background on it but, last time I tried to get info from them I never got a responce.

E-mail was sent to my friend. I gave them you're E-mail and the forum URL. Hopefully it only takes a day or so.

Dice, I think that's an updated version of nose art that first appeared on a B-24..substitute B24's for Hawg's and you'd have the original. The B24 was assigned to Gowen field back when the base was an AAF training facility.

There's a poster of the original with B24's in the background hanging next to the flightline office at Boise and I asked about it..that's the info that was given to me. I've tried some google searches, haven't had much luck.

OC, I also did a little looking around the net and like youself have found nothing. maybe Weasel's friend will show-up and shed some light on the matter.

I was wondering, how old would "Norma Jean" have been during WWII?
