Carl,
It was a reserve troop from the Cajuns and it was a com/nav troop doing the Mav seeker check-out.
Remember when CNN did that story "TIGERS IN THE SAND" in OCT 90 and the Wing/CC went to show the reporters the Tapes from his jet and "NOTHING!" the tape didnt work, then they tried another and it didnt work,so after that it was ordered that ALL MAV OPERATIONS WILL BE CHECKED AFTER LOADING AND DOUBLED CHECKED.
So they Had the COM/NAV troops checking them out.
This Reservist had never did an OP's Check on a REAL! AGM-65 before only TGM'S and APU ON,INVERTER ,FLIP MASTER ARM,FLAPS 7 AND SELECT MAV ,and the rest you know.
I was not even 300 yrs from that BABY WHEN IT LEFT THE RAIL!,we thought we were being attacked and all that White/Black/Blue smoke was a Chemical attack ROCKS AND SAND EVERYWHERE FLYING,NOISE WAS LOUD!,Plus the BOOM FROM THE ROCKET FIRING!.
Audie,Curly,ARD and MYSELF ran cover,Gus came and got us alittle while later to tell us what happened plus to go SIGHT SEEING,Audie took pic's since he had the only camera.
So that how I remember it going down,it was kept "HUSH HUSH" you wont even find it in any Saftey or mishap records, the only book I ever heard mention was the one for model detailing with the Barksdale jets on the cover.
