I was there for both of those. '78 to '80 when I retrained to CATM. I was a Load Toad in the 358th for the entire time. I've got a pic of 518 sitting on it's belly, (check out the Wings over the Rockies posting under Door Art).
I was on Malcom, Mac, Nason's crew for most of the time. Started out on the A-7D and then on to the A-10 when we got those. I was also there when one of our birds took a bird strike to the muzzle, and when the one loader had four of his fingers taken off by the gun. Knew M&M, AKA Mark Moir. I worked mostly Mids and Swings, hated Days.
Worked with Angelo Alderetti, whos with a CE unit now up here at Buckley AFB. Carl Youngblood hangs out here as well, we'd worked together in the 358th too.
