Would enjoy talking to anyone that was in the squadrons (357th TFTS / 358th TFTS) from 1978 through 1982. I was there when #222 fired three rounds on ramp during a "weekend bone." Was also in 358th when #518 collapsed on ramp. Almost had the honor of running it that night.

Too late......Ive known Jeff for oh.........about 26 years now, give or take a few months. I dont know of many on the board from that time frame unfortunatley. Hows "grandpa jeffy" doing?

I remember hearing about 222 firing off the rounds on the ramp along with 518 going down on the ramp when they where testing the landing gear system. Both off these happened before I got to the 358th. Was there from 82-86 A-flt

I was there for both of those. '78 to '80 when I retrained to CATM. I was a Load Toad in the 358th for the entire time. I've got a pic of 518 sitting on it's belly, (check out the Wings over the Rockies posting under Door Art).
I was on Malcom, Mac, Nason's crew for most of the time. Started out on the A-7D and then on to the A-10 when we got those. I was also there when one of our birds took a bird strike to the muzzle, and when the one loader had four of his fingers taken off by the gun. Knew M&M, AKA Mark Moir. I worked mostly Mids and Swings, hated Days.

Worked with Angelo Alderetti, whos with a CE unit now up here at Buckley AFB. Carl Youngblood hangs out here as well, we'd worked together in the 358th too.

THAT WAS DALE AMBROSE? THAT LOST THE FINGERS. I WAS WITH HIM WHEN IT HAPPENED. BACK THEN WHEN YOU HAD TO HOLD A COIN OVER THE LAST RDS SENSOR TO CLEAR THE GUN . WHEN IT CLEARED THE GUN BACKED UP AND THE FEED UNIT TOOK FOUR FINGERS.

A SECOND LOADER AT MB LOST A FEW FINGERS ABOUT A WEEK LATER DOING THE SAME JOB. IF I REMEMBER THEY USED ONE OF HIS TOES TO REPLACE HIS THUMB

YEARS LATER THE 76TH AT ENGLAND FIRED A FEW RDS OUT ON THE RAMP, THINK THAT WAS KENNY BREWER AND JOHN LAIRD
THE BACK SHOP HAD FIRED A ROUND INSIDE THE GUN SHOP A YEAR OR SO BEFORE THAT. BUT I DO NOT REMEMBER WHAT SECTION THAT GUN BELONGED TO.
