I always thought that the \"Bent Winged Bug Smasher\" looked good as a Thunder Chicken!

Yeah the \"Duck's\" arent bad in general, but after spending time with and watching the British Red Arrows and Italian Frecce Tri Colori for a couple of years in Italy spoils one to what a good show is!

Have seen the Tri Colori many times have to gain altitude to cross the perimeter fence and then back down on the deck as they came across the airfield!

One Tri Colori show, one blew a main tire on take off roll. All aircraft got off the ground except the one. We followed down the runway, being crash recovery.
The rest of the team had grouped and circled back for a pass of the airfield.I think I asked the tower 6 times or more if they were sure we had permission on the runway!
It appeared as if the group coming back was going to hit out vehicels they were so low!
Even our biggest tugs shake, rattled and rolled with the jet wash they tossed off as they passed us!

I remember seeing them back when I was a young Air Force Brat and I have to agree with you Goob, they put on the best show ever. Not to knock the T-38/F-16 versions, which are ok, but they don't come close to those fabulous Phantoms.

First time I saw the T-birds they were in F-100 Super Sabers. They were still allowed to break the barrier, IIRC.

Someones starting to show some age here! LOL
F-100's? Man thats been ages ago.

Although I did fuel some F-100's and assist in some minor repairs on some while in Aviano!
The French and the Turkish were exchanging birds and used us as a go between. Swapped F-100's for T-33's!

Was pretty neat to see birds that old still flying, although some werent in the best flying condition!

F100s I remember the Turks had them the first time I went to Injureddick and a group call Flight System Enterprise used to fly them and F86s out of Italy towing darts. As far as the Tbirds didnt the F105 last for about a year, something about the tails comming apart.

I was about 13, in Lima, OH. Too expensive to take the whole family into the granstands, so we stood at the end of the show area. I remember standing at the top of a Water reservoir and looking up as they passed overheard, inverted. so close I could see into the cockpit to the helmet and arm reaching the stick. Soooo sweet to feel that rush and rumble!

The Canadian Snow Birds always put on a Great Show too, saw them at the Scott AFB airshow when they brought in the Space Shuttle Enterprises on its 747, One of the first Euro-1 Camo FREDS, 1 of the Thunderbirds first shows with the F-16's after they had the Crash in 81 with the T-38's,

But their are some Great teams and you cant leave out the Blue Angels .

But I can just imagine the T-Birds with the F-4's I bet that was a sight too see.
