Guys as many of you know I was at ground zero for Katrina. I am working on several personal projects to teach others in EMS about Katrina. When I was flown out of New Orleans there were military photographers everywhere I am trying to get these pictures. I have identified one photographer specifically a Master Sgt. Jack Braden who was taking photographs at the airport about the time I passed through. Since he is a government employee these photographs are supposed to be public domain, but how do I contact this person. I know he his images are often posted to the airforce news website.

any help would be great.

Try emailing Jack.Braden@af.mil. Just recently the AF got rid of the @basename.af.mil and made it af.mil, and mail sent to @af.mil us automatically forwarded to the persons @basename.af.mil.

I'm sure you've already gone this route, but if you know what base he is from call the PA office there, or go to that bases specific webpage instead of the AF wide one and check there.

Nope, his first name really is Jack, not a nickname for John.
Why, is Jack not a common first name? I've never noticed.
Here's all his pics on the AF webpage.

Katrina pics are on page 9 and 10 of that link, I see none of mattlott though, all are of military people.

FOIA is what i was about to suggest when i read your post that you'd already done it.

Theoretically anything in public domain or declassified (but not yet in public domain) can be obtained via FOIA.

gotta love our government. Requesting photographs that were taken with your taxes and mine. Being told I must give reason for my requesting the photos. Now remember these photos are public domaine. the implied threat is if they dont approve I will never get them.

Even though they are property of the citizens of the US. Key concept here is why show the american people the truth.
