Another aircraft I have a special place for. I actually have 1.1 hours of F100F time in one my log books.

Great tribute to a real workhorse of a bird. They had them at Buckley ANG before I'd gotten there. They then went to the A-7D, and then the F-16. They still have a couple of F-100's on static display there.

Thanks Chief.

About 2:54, they show some with a few other planes. Are the cargo planes in the back C-27s, or something else?

Gifted,
Those are C-123 Providers built by Fairchild. Big in the early days of VN and like the C-130, could land just about anywhere and carry a farely good load.

Thanks again Chief for this video link. I passed it on to a friend here at work. Just so happens he's a former AF Pilot. His first fighter was the F100. He asked me to pass on his thanks to you as well. It brought back some great memories for him.

Didn't almost every one of those ever built get shot down?

Sure did Snipe. Like the 102, the 106 and a lot of F-4's, they turned them into drones.

I was actually thinking of the F-105 fleet which was utterly wiped out almost to the last plane over the skies of Vietnam.

The F-100 had nowhere near the same loss rate afaik.

The Hun actually flew more combat sorties than any other jet in the inventory during Vietnam. I wish I had it to scan, but I sent Dice a cool pic of one of our Huns in formation with one of our new A-10's back in '79 or '80. That was back when we were cool. Now we suck. [bs]
