Along with the email....

Jimmy Stewart in \"Strategic Air Command\" in the 1950's, here is a clip from that movie. Anyway, whoever sent out this clip found some good pictures of the interiors and exterior of the B-36. Remember, \"Six Turnin' and Four Burnin\".....the six props and the four jets that were hung out on the wing to help the production models get off the ground.

Worth it for the sound - six piston and four jet engines

You will also see Jimmy Stewart on the jump seat.....

Look at all those instruments and engine controls at the Flight Engineer station.

Also note that the Co-Pilot controls the Jet engines while the Flight Engineer controls the pistons.

That bird was a handful for certain. I had no idea that it took such a large crew to get her there and back.

I can't imagine trying to keep 168 cylinders (336 spark plugs) firing at the right time..what a maintenance nightmare that thing must have been.

Sent that to a friend of mine who's dad was a B-36 crewchief. Said that they changed the plugs after almost every mission, and that if one came back with \"6 turnin' and 4 burnin'\" it was literally a cause for celebration. Oh, and that a -36 could take off faster, climb to altitude faster and fly higher than the F-86s that were supposed to escort them.

That's a Good movie,

I got to go into the B-36 at Chanute AFB before they \"Scraped it\".

It just \"Blows your mind\". They sent you to MAT for a week to start the APU on the C-141 (Well some people went to class others OJT 1 TIME)

I wonder how much time it took to learn those systems ??

Great movie and Jimmie Stewart was one of the best ever. Bonus was Harry Morgan, one of the best character actors of all time.

You got love the Actors who play \"Crew Chiefs\"

My Favorite was \"AIRFORCE\" 1943 about the crew of a B-17 in the early days of WW2

Very nice video. It is for a film, you can see that, but are there also real takes on videos?

I have seen one B-36 in real (museum) and i was impressed by the size.
