Coach got it right and I'll give the location too it's Kadena AB Okinawa .
Those were some Great looking F-86 I think N models one of the last made ones, the ones They last sold the Canadians .
Rockwell Built plus being the makers of the Saber-liners&SaberJets Rockwell used alot of left over parts from the F-86 to build the T-39's , so Kadena was \"Queen Bee\"for all the PACAF & the AFCC bird. USAF ran it ,but you had Rockwell tech reps on hand plus parts and they also dealt with some of the systems on all the other weapons systems in PACAF in the area (AF,Navy,Marines,Army etc..)
1 came back IFE with a UN retractable cable with the dart still in tow that wouldn't release, talk about \"Sparks\" it finally broke loose on the runway but the cable did some damage to the jet.
The other thing is if you look at the JASDF F-4J's lined up, their all different . I was down there that day as the \"Flying CC\" for a \"PU\" back to Yokota for a group of Officers who had been exchanging time with their host counter parts. So being the only enlist guy there I hung out with the JN CC's until they found me.
The JASDF WCC gave me a tour of the jets on the line and explained to me that \"The paint their Jets with a varying camo pattern to match the terrain instead of all the same color.
Plus they had a \"F-1\" Fighter on the ramp they had aquired. I'm still looking for that picture. It was painted as a PRC Jet without the STAR
So I got to see between the JASDF & USAF over almost every jet you could think of. F-15J,Martain PBY,T-33,
F-104,F4J,F4C,RF4,F4E,F4G,F-15B,F-5E,C-1's,C-160's,EC-130's,AC-130's,F-86's,SR-71,U-2,B-52,KC-135,EC-135,PC-3,A-,F-14,EA-6,A-7,C-130,C-5,C-141,C-9,CT-39A,ET-39A,CT-39G,C-21A,C-12A,UH-1N,CH-53,VC1(AF 1) (MARINE 1)MIG-21,MIG-17,MIG15 a ring neck pheasnt 2 sparrows,a big bird in my intake and bird shit on my window. !!
