Its been a little dead in here, so I figured I contribute a little: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=448583 cliff notes: F-106 in spin, pilot ejects, plane straightens out, lands in a field, Sheriff finds plane with engine running and radar still sweeping. Pretty neat history right there. |

Had an F-14 driver back in my Top Hatters days named LtCdr Parsons. his first tour in the Navy he actually did as an exchange pilot with the Air Force some 15 years prior to 1986. (I feel old) My favorite jet when I was young was the Dart and I used to love the patch he wore on his jacket next to the F-4, F-8, and F-14 patches. He told me one day that the Six was the greatest jet he had ever flown. It had but one flaw, it was to fast. He said it was a animal to try to slow down. |

I seem to recall seeing it the last time I toured that museum[ [Edit] I just glanced at the article in the link, and it does mention that the aircraft in the story is at Wright-Pat, so I wasn't imagining things. ![]() |
