Verry cool airshow jet. I am just curious to the tactical advantages of such manauvers, especially defensive, once an F-22/AIM-120 firing solution has been achieved? Is it possiable to defeat an AIM-120 once it has you in its kill envelope? |

But they are all, very very slow and cannot process that fast. Having used the system in the Su27 and the Mig 29. I for one will stick to the old rule of BFM Dead men dont turn slow in a Knife fight. The AIM 9x and the aim120* can be slaved to the JHMCS. The 9x has a 90 Degree off boresight launch capability and the Aim 120 can do the Same with the RAdar in Various new boresight modes. The Su-35 may look like fun aircraft doing these type of manuevers to the aviation enthusiests , but to a seasoned FWIC guy like myself. Bleeding energy like that and stopping is blatant suicide. Aircraft that are inbound on you with a nose on aspect are almost impossible and difficult to see. Your really have no idea at times where a guy will end up. To time that type of manuever in combat to me is blatant suicide. My answer to Chad's question. "Is it possiable to defeat an AIM-120 once it has you in its kill envelope?" Nope... Would look fantastic as it Nailed the hovering aircraft Center mass at mach 3. I remember reading about that eagle u show pictured. Wasnt that a joint NASA project or something to study highy manuverability, and wasnt it done along time ago? My question though is why wanst part of it incorporated into current f-15's, or or older f-15C's? Especially the thrust vectoring?? Wouldn't all current F-18, F-15, F-16's benefit from a three dimensional thrust vectoring system like the SU's have? and i beleive that technology demonstrater u pictured has a similiar thrust vectoring system, does it not? |

The SUs(and F-22) have 2d vectoring. The F-15ACTIVE has 3d axiometric vectored thrust, and forward canards(actually tailfins from an F-18A).
