a10Stress, the problem with the Amraam 120, is that its legs are too short, By the time you reach WEZ 20-18nm. The Russian ordnace has already been launched between 40-30.

This is why the tactic is week. Russian Ordnance has always had longer legs. They have a heater they can release at 35 nm and Detect you from that Far. As to how much Heat Signature the F22 puts out, Is debateable.

You cant mutual support the shooter if he has already been engaged...

Mutual support is everything. Of course this is all a litoral essay. But the reality remains. "you never extend your flights, beyond mutual support" this is a golden rule.

Mudd, the latest AMRAAM, the AIM-120C-5 is claimed to have extended range, so that should help shouldn't it?

A10 stress,

Thanks for the clarification. I was, as I said, referring to the F-22 and its powerful APG-77 (thanks M21) radar that has a range of well over 100NM... if you are flying high cover in a trail and your flight lead needs you to paint a target that is 80NM away and there is no AWACS availabe because you are over hostile SAM-friendly territory, what would you do? Naturally, we can all agree that the AIM-54 is superior to the AIM-120, but I'd put my green-backs on the F-22s capabilities any day of the week and twice on sunday.

quote:
Weve already established what an ignorant little troll you are.

Your Source is pittifully wrong and I hope hes not a real Flight lead. because he just roasted his wingman. AWACs has a larger picture and resolution than any fighter we have fielded. their would be no need for eather of them to hunt Actively.

You can call me an ignorant troll all you want, the reality of the situation still stands. AMRAAM or no AMRAAM your flight lead will still need to know whats infront of him. He didn't just roast his wingman, the flight lead has his radar off and, as you know, the F-22 is a stealth aircraft... the only thing roasting here would be the Mig-29 pilot's testicles. I heard this from an F-15C pilot from Tyndall... hes been flying F-15s for 10 years. Yeah, sure I'm the new guy... and relatively inexperienced compared to 90% of the people in this forum... but that F-15 pilot isn't, and hes been a flight lead for over 6 years. cheers.

Buzz, take it easy, it was just more hazing.

You make forceful statements, whether or not they are right or wrong they are going to elicit a strong reaction.

Just keep that in mind.

Oh c'mon, you havn't even been here for a month yet ;)

Ask Tritonal about the hazing he got, lol.

And BELIEVE ME, compared to what we do to real trolls here you have been handled with kid gloves.

Most of it is good natured ribbing, just take it as such.

How is that possible? Can the heat signal from a regular fighter be detected from 35 nm away, AND be identified as a Foe and not a Friend? That isn't making too much sense to me, sorry.

bigross,

yeah, I agree... a heat signature would be pretty hard to detect from 35NM... and a headshot even more difficult. And its not like they are going to be using radar-guided weapons to any great effect... the -22 has all the bases covered.

M21,

I know its ribbing, just gets old after a while.

We dug into you pretty good a few times in the Tritonal and tank plinking thread.

Then again, maybe it's my memory that's goin....

Buzz, you'll get over it ;)

I didn't see that as "diggin' in", I saw it as a good debate(one of the best threads we've had). It didn't have a hazing like feeling but I did get some educated and schooled responses.

BTW, saw a show on Repo men on Disc. ... was pretty interesting

I saw that show too.

What a lot of amatuers.

I almost had a heart attack when the one repo guy let the 'owner' drive away in the pickup truck. They'd have to shoot me to do that to me.

That brings up a good question:Are you talking about the man with the piece that drove away or was that the one on TLC? How would you seriously handle that situation in which the guy was in?

Me, well, I'm not a repo man, but I would definitely have a sidearm myself and I would have a second man with me just in case.

BigThug,

It'll only take about a minute 15 or something close to that for the enemy fighter to be in the 120 WEZ. As far as air temp at 25K, assuming standard temperature and pressure... it would be around -27.5 degrees farenheit. Hope those answers were right. Nice quiz though, we should get more of those going. cheers.

I think it was the one on TLC...

Honestly, the last time someone tried to drive away in their car after i informed them it was reposessed, i went with them.

On the hood.

I got a very exciting ride- and she went to jail.

There is no escaping the repo man ;)

Well, not this one anyway.

I don't think i saw the one on Discovery now that you mention it.
It was the one on TLC that i saw.

"Beyond Tough", hosted by ICE T, and that Italian guy from the Sopranos.

Those guys were idiots. Me and partner couldn't believe our eyes watching the 'competition'.

LOL,
I meant the one on TLC, I only saw a fraction of the Discovery one since it was rehashed. I gotta admit that it was funny to see "Big Pussy" try to subdue that irate guy.
What's the most anyone has done being beligerent during your repo? I would be peeved: "I'm not taking your car, the bank is ya' big dummy."
You avoid such entanglements and probably do it with maximum stealth; an excellent job for an ex-sniper.

That repoing looks pretty intense. If I had the skills, I'd pursue it.
Are you self employed, or do you work for the lenders? I'd rather be self-employed.

I'm self employed, and i'm local.

If you ever want to go out with us one night, just email me.

I'd be happy to take you out and show you the mean streets of Philly.

90% of the time the repossessee is totally cooperative.

5% of the time they get mouthy, but are still cooperative.

4% of the time they get mouthy and threatening, but end up surrendering the car after a little convincing.

It's the 1% that justifies what i charge per car. Cause you never know when you'll run into(literally) one of those.

Ironicly, most of the time those(1%) people live in the suburs and are women.

Long distance- The next best thing to being there.
