It's important to remember that <i>Red Storm Rising</i> was co-authored with Larry Bond, who wrote <i>Vortex</i> (a civil war in South Africa) and <i>Red Phoenix</i> (a second Korean War scenario). He is superior to Clancy in my opinion.

<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>he also did Cauldron (Set in Europe, with France and Germany lining up against the US and Brittian.. fairly entertaining)

In regards to Clancy and the actors playing Ryan... I'm fairly certain he's disliked ALL of them.

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>Books from Stephen Coonts are also good to read. One of mine favourite writers. <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>

When I started to read Stephen Coonts I loved his books, then I realised every one is the same just with the location and characters changed.

I then got bored of him...

Red Storm Rising is easily Clancy's best, along with Hunt for Red October in a strong 2d place.

30MM Jr read "Red Storm..." so many times it literally fell apart in his hands. He wanted to do a book report on it in junior high, and I had to give him written permission cuz his teacher thought it'd be too intense for him! <img src=newicons/anim_lol.gif border=0 align=middle><hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>

Huh, go figure. I did a book report and seminar in front of the class on RSR in the seventh grade (1988). No issues from my instructor, other than a warning that it was going to be tough because of the myriad of plot lines.

Schools have become so panzy-assed.

Yup. 'Course, by the time he did the report, he'd already read it several times. Blew the old biddy away with his analysis! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I have been reading three series for years now. First is the "Ashes" series by William W Johnstone. Adventures of a writer named Ben Raines that gets nominated to lead a new army following a holocaust in America and throughout the world. He hates liberals and does a lot of good. Great series. Out of the Ashes is the first book in this series.
Second is the Deathlands series by James Axler. This is set about 100 years after a nuclear holocaust hits in 2001. A small group of friends travels throughout the "Deathlands" getting into all sorts of sh*t. They even manage to find a way to teleport themselves from one place to another using "Gateways" or matter transfer devices. There are over 40 books in the series. The earlier books are the best as the original James Axler no longer writes. Pilgrimage to Hell is the first book in this series. Best to read in order to keep the stories in line.
Last is the Outlanders series also by James Axler. This series carries the Deathlands another 100 years into the future with a lot of references to the Deathlands characters. Over 30 books in this series. Not quite as good as Deathlands but still not bad.
Currently reading Band of Brothers from the HBO movie series.

Also Dice, I see there is a 1670-12 position open in the A-10 SPO at Hill. Are you still in Utah?
