Flew into San Francisco 5 days ago, and will be driving back across the US to Philly, with a beautiful princess at my side.

So far i've been to San Fran, crossed the Golden Gate bridge, drove the length of the Pacific Coast Highway down to LA, and tomorrow i'm departing for Las Vegas.

Hoover Dam and the grand canyon are also on the agenda.

Anyone else have any \"must see\" suggestions for my return leg?

Our planned route is US 40 to Knoxville, Tenn, then US 81 back up into Pa.

Wolf Creek Pass, Pagosa Springs, Mesa Verde, the Arkansas River and highway 50 in southern Colorado. Awesome drive!

Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Great time of year for those.

Cadillac Ranch is a good stop. And go eat a 96 oz steak in Amarillo while you're at it.

Had an awesome trip. Here are a few pix from Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam.

The route we ended up taking was, Pacific Coastal Highway from San Fran to LA. From LA to Vegas. From Vegas to Hoover, then to the Grand Canyon. From there we ran I-40 East to Memphis, we hit Graceland, and turned NE onto 81. Then East again to our final run up I-95.

Of all the states traversed, my CCW permit was good in all of them but Kalifornia, Nevada, Maryland and Delaware.

Gotta love Reciprocity.

Nice pictures, did you stop in Vegas at all, or just drive through?

I've been considering going there one day (if i can gather up the money) Basically i want to win enough money to pay for a house better and Atlantic City here just isn't seeming like the place to do it.

Good to hear you made it safely and had a good time in the process. Nice pics. I backpacked down the New Hance Trail back in '79, and spent a night on the dunes by the Hance Rapids. The hike out the next day almost put me under. The Canyon is a beautiful place. Glad you got in some site seeing.

Daaaang! When I went to Hoover Dam in '01 the water was at least 50-75' higher on the Lake Mead side! Another 20 years it might be a dry lake bed!

Reminds me of the Salt Lake in Utah. I was just at Hill AFB last week and went to Antelope Island. There's a beach on the island...but from where they have the beach things like restrooms and picnic tables are like 500' from the water. The docks are so low that there's only a couple boats, and I heard they couldn't get out anymore.

Cool pics though!

Great Canyon pics! These last two look like the same area I backpacked in '79. Was that anywhere near the New Hance Trail?
