and of course by "pukes" I mean fine upstanding members of the brotherhood oficianadoes/mavens of rapidly expanding gasses <no frag I>

some of those blasts in Bagdead(sic) looked AWFULLY huge, is the MOAB ready to go yet? or do you guys think they were 2000lbders?

I think that the night made the blast effect more noticeable. From what I could gather the explosions they got good footage of was JDAM's dropped from a B-2.

Those were 2000lb er's. I can tell because of the flash and the brisance factor.
High explosives have shattering effects where as FAE(MOAB) have a pushing effect, good for caves.
I don't know what the explosive fill was, it most likely was not tritonal-It was way more powerful. It could've been an H-6 or the new AFX-757 fill. I'm guessing the blast radiuses of the 2000lb'ers were 200'. They practically lit up the sky.

The Tomahawk has only a 1000lb warhead but a very powerful explosive(PBXN-109)- check out my avatar, that's a Tomahawk detonation.

I have to guess sometimes because when you ask detailed questions about explosives, people tend to look at you funny.

As for the MOAB being operational? If they can rush the GBU-28 program successfully then they can surely get the MOAB of the ground! ...( Then back onto the ground in a detonating fashion)

The USAF AGM-86B CALCM has a 2000lb penetration warhead, and could easily account for explosions of the magnitude seen.

In any case, it was one hell of a show.

thanks guys, the new fill for ALCM is supposed to EQ 3000lb of conventional fill. I believe they also have a penetrator warhead for ALCM cause I've seen pics of it diving straight down into the ground, PURE vert!!

I've seen the footage too Boomer-Amazing

Are you saying that it equals a 3000lb TNT fill because that's the unit to measure blast effectiveness.

The AGM-68C=3,250lbs
Then you have to account for motor, body, penetrator, rocket fuel, guidance system, etc. The explosive fill is about 1/4, 1/2 of the overall weight. But man, it packs a punch!

The warhead IS a 2000lb penetrator.

One's 2000lb one is 3000lb.
But, I don't think they use the 3000lb anymore.
I'm also guessing they will incorporate the AUP as well.

The Hog's finally being used. But that's for another section.

MOABS are for the Field. When the warhead gets changed to a high explosive penatrator that's all for Baghdad.
