I was in Barnes/Nobles today and looked through all of their books on fighter/attack aircraft. The FAIRCHILD-REPUBLIC A10 came up under the following names:

REPUBLIC A10
FAIRCHILD A10
LOCKHEED A10
LOCKHEED-MARTIN A10

MADE FOR A FEW SNICKERS ON MY PART. LOL. Gotta love people who don't know the first thing about the military and aircraft WRITING BOOKS about the military and aircraft...

alright alright. it's correct based on the idea that the hog was a combined effort by those companies...so each gets some credit. but its a pain in the ass when you're looking for the A10 in the index of a book!!! especially when you're going through all the military aviation books and B&N's.

Fairchild-Republic A-10 is correct, not the others. The Lockheed ones are especially annoying.

As a10stress says the only complete and proper name for the Hog is Fairchild-Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II! Farichild and Repulic was one company when the A-10 was designed and built so using one name without the other is not right.

lockheed Martin is the "prime" contractor for the A-10 but that doesn't mean it's a LM aircraft, so either term Lockheed or Lockheed Martin is wrong.

a10stress, I can understand your dislike of have LM name placed in frunt of the A-10 because, even if they are supporting it today they didn't design or build the Warthog.

Fairchild-Republic is the reason we have the A-10 so they should never be left-out when talking about her.

Ugly but well hung!

The republic part is more fitting (for history atleast) when you consider that Republic Built the Tunderbolt I.

I agree with all that, BUT we do have the "Lock/Mart" F-16 not the GD F-16 etc.
