I got a post office box today and will start taking donations for what I call "Operation Hawg". I'm taking the Hog Pen down this weekend for some routine maintenance so will not post this on my site until it's back up and running sometime next week. I'm posting here because I would have liked to had a package out by the first week of Nov to insure it makes it by Thanksgiving but, I will be TDY to Owego NY the first week of Nov so would like to get one out by the end of this month.

I will only take money orders (personal checks from only people I know) to support this effort to cut down on hassles on my part (selfish I know). If you would like your name (only first, last, or a screen name) sent along with the package please include your wishes, and the name you would like to use, in a note along with the money order. I will give a full accounting of the money I receive and what it was spent on IE items for shipping or shipping materials and shipping costs.

If you would like to donate to Operation Hawg you may send a money order, made out to Joseph Hodges, to the below PO box. Lets let the guys and gals of the Hawg community know they are in out thoughts during the up-coming holiday season….a lot of us have, been there, done that, and not forgotten what it‘s like!

Operation Hawg
C/O Joseph Hodges
PO Box 689

Dice, do you have a paypal account set up that we could make an online donation? It's free to set up and may get a little more money that way. If you want to go that route and need some assitance email and let me know.

Hitler, I don't and a lot of people don't like to use paypal so I don't know if it would be worth setting up a new account or not. Do you have an account already?

Sure do, I'll check into putting up a page so if people want to use it they can. Then I'll send you the money once it clears the account. May take a few days to get up and running since I'm currenty out process and getting ready to head back to the land of the BIG BX.

That is if the people of WT are interested.......

Not a big fan of Paypal, as I know three people, personally, whose accounts have been emptied. I'd keep it empty and only use it when the two are on-line and ready to make the exchange so the funds can be put into a more secure account immediately after the transaction.

Hey Dice,
A little off the subject, (sorry), but I grew up 10 miles from Owego NY, where you said you were headed! Didn't know there was much Hawgin to do there, or are you going to Lockheed-Martin for something?
Just curious. I just don't see that name brought up too often, as there isn't much there...

Thought that must've been it. There isn't much else there worth going for. In fact I'm surprised LM is still hangin around there. IBM used to rule the world there but they pulled out around 1990. Everything shriveled up there then, and LM is probably the only thing keeping it from dying. Well, enjoy the nothingness of Owego.

LIL HITLER---let us know if you get that paypal acct going. I'll send thru that.

Goose, got your check yesterday, I know money is tight this time of year so thanks for "carving out" a little for the troops. I've got enough money now to send a small Thanksgiving package out this week so I'll be saving your money for the Christmas package to go out the first or second week of December.

One box of goodies arrived for the troops on Thanksgiving day and another should arrive in the next day or so, been told I will get some pictures tomorrow.

I have $125 more dollors but will wait until the 3rd of December, to see if any more comes in, before spending it. I have to have any package postmarked by the 5th to insure it arrives in time for Christmas.

Thanks to all who donated and to everyone here who supports the A-10 community in many different ways....I feel the thrid annual "care package" drive is a winner already!!

I feel luck to be part of this forum, even if I'm now only a slimmy contractor!

I've been so busy that I missed out. That's what I get for not keeping up with my own forum.

Snipe, keep me posted on stuff like this as I will glady donate for the cause.

Got an email from “Coach” today and it seems our last box, which took a while to get there, did make it yesterday.

I would like to echo Coach’s comments and say your donations helped to make some deployed troops day a little brighter. This box contained the complete box set of “24” the second season, The complete Simsons third season, a bunch of candy, and 6 (I think) A-10 coffee mugs. Again thanks to all who gave to this effort!!

From Coach;

Dice,

Got your box today...thanks for the mugs, candy and DVDs. I want to tell you how much your (insert everyone’s) support means to the Airmen over here. Any little thing in the mail is exciting for them. Thanks for what you've done!

I leave on 10 Jan, my replacement is already in the seat (Col “Warhog”). Feel free to substitute his name for mine and keep the supplies coming, it all goes to the Airmen.

ATTACK!!
Coach

Goose, I think I'm going to hit the guys/gals up at the World Wide PMR, maybe a donation can at the door during registration! I don't know how far I can go being a contractor but I figure I will press-on until I get in trouble.

After that maybe a Christmas in July thing, I'll let you know.
