Goose, I don't know what kind of timeline they've given you to fix this goat rope but at some point you need to stop screwing around and bring in the big gun. Most TV stations have some kind of consumer investigative team that makes a living reporting on this kind of crap. With all the negative publicity the VA has received lately, the last thing they want is more bad press and the liberal media would like nothing more than to give it to them, it makes for great ratings. Picture this: "Coming Up on the 6 O'clock segment, another horror story from the very agency that's supposed to be protecting our disabled veterans". Here's a written guarantee; if that were to happen, the plodding, slow as molasses, press one for english agency you're dealing with now will instantly turn into the most efficient, well oiled bureaucracy that will work at blinding speed to resolve your issue. With that said, I hope you're taking notes on every phone call..who, what, when and a short synopsis of what was said and what was promised.

I have a note book on "Who,What,When ,Where, times ,dates what was said,I put the phone on Speaker so the Wife could take notes.
I learned along time ago the better your notes the less they can LIE!

It worked in 2000 against the VA when I was threatened by a "Adjudicator " at the VA for calling Her to ask a Question(hell her number was there for questions") and by doing so I heard thisat 07:04 monday morning and it was the day after I had gotten out of the Hospital
"What do you mean by CALLING ME!,YOU DONT CALL ME,YOU NEVER WILL CALL ME AGAIN ,AND I'LL MAKESURE YOU NEVER GET ANYTHING"!!!!!!
Too bad for her the Wife had picked-up the Phone and "Mother Goose" RIPPED HER A NEW ONE" plus at the end all the Lady could say was
"Well its early and I havent had my Coffee yet"
Didnt cut it in the IG complaint plus they record all calls so it was a Pretty "open and closed case"when we could tell them the Time,Date,names etc,..... so their wasnt any way they could defend it.
I have talked to My VSO's at the PVA ,plus I talked to a few at the Chicago Office at the VA and they are "MOVING fixing it.It wasnt their Fault, it came out of the VA DEBT COLLECTION DIVISON in Mn.Which was about as helpful as "ICE in a Snow Storm"
So they'll get a Complaint.
But they have been put on notice if it isnt cleared up it goes to press and Durbins and Obamas office.I have already talked to a few folks about it.
They told me as long as their "Fixing it" let them do it,but if they dont ,They'll take it from there.
Tuesday they already had a meeting planned for that day ,but when the VSO went to it with that LETTER and the VA REP who helped me on the Phone was there too,it was a "HOT TOPIC"so it looks like its all fixed now.All records show me being Alive,my C-FILE has been put back into the System and without loss of time,Champva,DEERS, My Daughters Chapter 35 benefits are OK, We havent found anything else that was effected.

I have faith in my PVA VSO's and that "Letter" SNAFU I think will help more Vets in the long run then just myself.
But as I said earlier I was treated with "Respect and Compassion" by the VA Office Reps so Their are good folks there.Not like before.

I think when its all over it'll make a Good story in a couple of publications, Plus I think the Sec of VA will get a letter and If Lane Evans(D-IL) wasnt retiring due to his Parkisons , He'd have a Field day on the Veterans Affairs Committe with it.<img src=newicons/anim_lol.gif border=0 align=middle>

UPDATE:
Told this morning my check will be issued on the 6th and I had just beat the Pva from calling me(I already knew it wasnt in my account) and the VA will be calling to explain "Why and When" and will then call on the "6th" to ensure I know it is deposited or if it wasnt
To get the FUNDS .
So Chief thats the Deadline the 7th (My Birthday)to have it cleared up. If it isnt by 0900 I'm going to DEFCON 2 on it. Thats 10 days which is the MAX and thats enough.
Also this mess just might help my CASE.Its getting attention now and the points I had made in my Letter are pretty hard to "Blow-off"on how the deicision of the Claim was made 12 days after they had closed my file on 01-27-06 and Adjudicated 02-08-06,knowing they had already closed it and didnt send the "Blue Sheet" to me until May 8th.

First, welcome back to the world of the living and I'm glad you'er, for the most part, taking this all in stride. I'm not so sure I'd be so understanding with the VA if I were in your shoes. My last 2 run ins with them got my congressman involved. Now a days, if I have any problem with them, a letter to my congressman is the first step. They usually get much faster results and nobody backtalks them.

I've spent a good deal of time reading your updates and am really glad to hear that it's just about over for you. Yet I can't help but think that if this is happening to one of our friends, how many others are getting screwed out there?

Hang in there kid, and if you do need anything, don't hesitate to ask.

I did. The riskiest that was likely to be would be ruining my digital camera. Falling in would of getten me swept down a swollen creek about ten feet, which emptied out into a meadow after that.

In fact if I had known where my boogeyboard was I would of caught a wave & got beat up less than I have by the Atlantic Ocean.

We're at DEFCON 3 the check was sent out from Chicago Thursday and hasNT gotten here yet. I could of picked it up myself from there.
No check friday, No mail on Saturday on our route, carrier called-off and no replacement it seems.
So We wait for the mail in the NOON HOUR to the house.If it doesnt show we GO TO DEFCON 2.

Its supposed to go into my direct deposit. I have all that stuff sent to the bank for that reason ,BUT SINCE THEY F-'ed -UP
they have to cut a Paper Check which was a SURPRISE since they never had to before on any other matter.
I guess their sending an "Apology" too with it <img src=newicons/anim_lol.gif border=0 align=middle>
My guess it was sent to Minnesota to the YAHOO'S who screwed -it up in the first place by mistake since they probably didnt see that I'M ALIVE!
We'll see in a few hours.

I dont trust checks in the mail, but I have to say the VA folks I'm dealing with in Chicago are trying and told me to Call them ASAP if it aint here,but not until I call the VAROPVA.
I guess this is the reason you have a little put away.


B-MAN this normal everyday Shit for someone in the Military,or veteran someones pay is always screwed up. But its no differant in the Civilain world either I found out a couple of times.

So its a waiting game now, but we're just fine now got an un-expected windfall from an account we closed out.
