Well my first week went well except my hands have a few cuts and scraps and my legs and back are sore but, over-all, not bad. We go on 12 hours shifts on the 3rd and I'm not looking forward to that (except the money) because of the weird hours, 0300-1500 but it will give me a lot of training quickly.

I'm working cell-6 build-up (M&M that's in the very south-west corner of 225) which means we do the build-up and ops checks after the jets goes through what-ever it came to depot to go through. I think I got one of the better cells and there are a lot of nice people who are willing to help a new person learn.

0300 to 1500, 12hr shifts, now all you need is a gas mask and ground crew ensemble and it will be just like your still on active duty.

It would only be like active duty if he took a big pay cut and couldn't quit when he gets real pissed off.

M&M, not sure of his name because he was only there one day last week, the guy running the show was named "Mack". Like I said I work on the very last two docks on the very south west corner of the building. In fact the aircraft I was working last week was almost under a C-130s wing.

Fender, jackb is right, now when I work 12 hours I get paid time-and-a-half for the over time just like a real human being. I'm not getting paid great money at the moment jackb but, hope to move up fairly quickly.

LOL, Dice, the reality is the sooner you're able to carry your own weight (and more), the less work the others have to do. Matter of fact, here's a little side bet for you; six months from now, you'll be doing things outside your job description simply because it's easier to do it yourself rather than wait for someone else. And yeah, I'm back..15 pounds lighter with a "rat hole" stuffed with so many Franklins I've had to find new hiding places so she doesn't buy new drapes..I love FedEx!

Dice I have no doubt that you will get the hang of it in no time at all. Just as old chief said you will find yourself doing things that you wouldnt have normally done, but you do it anyway because you figure you can do it just as good instead of waiting for the "right" folks to do it. You have probably already figured out that the skill codes are much more generic than you may be used to. AG's are the jack of all trades much like crew dawgs are.

OC, I'm sure you're right and I have seen that to be the case already. That's OK, I stay busy all day and learn more about the aircraft, which can only help my resume.

M&M, I've already see this also, as you say AG does pretty much anything on the aircraft. I'm sure I will be seeing you soon for some trainig classes.

The biggest thing I've had to get used to is the size of the F-16. When I'm on top I have to watch when and where I walk or, I will walk right off the damn thing!

Looked good in those official hangar coveralls big guy.
