This has been discussed in depth at military.com. You would be suprised at some of the comments posted there. I myself watched the video and I believe that cop is in for a world of hurt. He appears to violate the ROE for this type of situation. He tells the kid to get up and when the kid does he shoots him 3 times. Time will tell, the FBI has the stick on the investigation which I hope means if the cop is negligent he will be held accountable.

The COP was wrong, plus if he felt threatened why was he so damn close to him anyway but not the driver? Which by the way wasnt charged and was out of jail in a few hours.

We should take a pool on this, on if it
1. gets swept under the rug
2. The Cop is cleared
3 The Cop is charged
4 The SP is charged
5 The SP gets a settlement
6 The its a Tie and its no-ones fault

I'll bet it's #6

The airman that was shot was a Security Forces troop from up here at Barksdale. He has been at a local hospital for about 6 days....

I just got an email from a friend and I asked him about it and their disgusted with what happened. He now and the rest of the "Men in Blue" are watching there backs waiting to see if something breaks out.

He's asking "Where's Jackson and Rev.Al " in defense of the SP?

Good question.

I saw absolutly no cause for his weapon to have been drawn in the first place. Which makes me curious as to what we aren't seeing prior to the video start that lead to a sidearm being drawn... course THAT part of the video could be even more incriminating... either way he had no reason to fire.

The Young SP was a Passenger, In the Vette, that lead police on a High Speed Chase, when the Officer initialy attempted to pull them over. Their was Just Cause to Draw the Firearm. This is Standard procedure. But this is where procedure ended and Anger in my opinion took over

The Shooting has Several Violations of Procedure.

It may turn out that someone other than the officer ( his partner?)with the gun told the AP to "get up" and the cop mistook it as an agressive act <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

Boomer,
he was the only Deputy on the sceen at the time, The High Speed chase which was only a short distance, was SOP for the stop but thats where it ended, the Weapon should of been holstered after that .

There is no reason why a cop would have someone get up while still holding a weapon on them. I was an AF Cop for the 2 years after 9-11 and we always trained that if you suspect some one is a threat, you keep them on the ground and prone until after they are cuffed and searched. Then and only then do you get them off the ground, and of course by then there is no reason to hold a weapon on them. That cop needs to be looking at serious jail time for this one.

Yesterday.

Yep he got charged however not with attempted murder which is what some were calling for. The FBI is still investigating and may charge the cop with violating the airman's civil rights as well.

I doubt he will go to GP as a former cop. I see a lot of protective custody in his future.
