Well as my topic says I had mine today. It went pretty well. I got there @0630 for my 0645 surgery. At about 0715 the nurse come out to tell me the implant they are inserting isn't there yet. So we (my co-worker and I) went to Denny's. I couldn't eat but he did. That sucked. So after that went back to the hospital and waited. And waited, and waited. At about 0930 I got called in. A nursing student started my IV (she did very well I might add) and I played the waiting game again. Turns out the vendor of my implant has 2 different models and the one that the hospital had was the worng one. The vendor actually DROVE the implant from Seattle for my surgery!!! So at about 1300 I finally got into the OR. Woke up at about 1530 feeling groggy but all done. So now I'm home resting. I'll be on occasionally to update.

I feel for you brother. I have had foot surgery twice in the past 18 months and guess what? That's right my feet still hurt. Mr. V.A. man has already said Uncle Sugar was going to throw some disability my way for that crap. Good Luck.

What's wrong with your foot?

When's the missus gonna pop? She should be due soon if she hasn't already, and I didn't catch any notices.

Amber's turkey timer (aka bellybutton) hasn't popped yet so she's still tenativly scheduled for 13 June. I should be recovered from this foot by then.

The feet: My Podiatrist thought it was Plantar Fasciitis (the tendon that creates your arch tears every time you step down. I don't have an arch so it was always tearing). He also told me, just like my on-base Doctor that my Achille's Tendon was tight enough to use in a slingshot!!

So they imlanted a orthotic into my foot and cut my Achille's tendon so it will lengthen. I slept pretty well last night. VIVA LA PERCOCET!!!!

Some new developments post-op.

It seems I have a good sized blood clot in my leg. The ER started me on blood thinners and I'll be on them for at least a month. Not the best news I've ever had. But the prognosis is good. Because the clot is in my calf it has less of a chance of breaking up and causing MAJOR problems.

you better keep on top of that shit. You get any wierd chest pains, short of breath, or head ache call 911. 99% of time not big deal but when clots in leg go bad they go bad fast.

The cause of all my problems. I get the stitches out tomorrow and I'm in the "Coumadin Clinic" on base on Wednesday to regulate my thinners.

it is a great medicine. Some wise doctor figured out that if it was given to rats to make their blood so thin that they bled to death, a dialed back dose in humans could stop blood clots. It is a old very cheap medicine that when monitored is safer than the alternatives. Was talking to a doctor from LSU he told me despite all its draw backs no other drug has been proven to work as well as long as it is carefully monitored.

All the new drugs are very very very very expensive and have never taken coumadins place.

The one on my ankle looks pretty good!

30MM: I think it says: HI MOM

Thanks for that info Matt. When I heard it was a rat poison I wasn't too worried. But it still was kinda funny. Use something that kills one animal to save another.

Boomer: I'm already getting cabin fever. My PS2 broke 3 days after surgery and I was supposed to get a new one on Friday, but the blood clot said no! There is only so much Sponge Bob one man can watch at one time!!!

Well I get to do that in 6 weeks anyway. DeLaney will be born by then.

Just got back from getting my stitches removed. No bleeding at all. Good sign. The pain in my leg has gotten very slight too. I just have some foot pain because I cranked it the wrong way and said every cuss word under the sun afterwards!!! The implant looked good via X-ray. Fixed up my arch pretty good. I can start walking again next week. I'll probable try to sccelerate it a little bit but not much. I need to get my muscles back into shape before I start work again. I wonder if I'll have a shaving waver while I'm on this blood thinner? I already look like Grizzly Adams.

Thats not something I'd like done at all!
Glad your doing better, you just take it easy, Get a Shaving Wavier and ride out the healing process.
Dont push it and keep it all"Doc'ed" That way you get a easier time filing later on.
