Looking for a free version of Linux that will run on an older laptop. I have an old laptop that I just found out has a bogus copy of XP on it which can no longer be updated. In addition XP is so porky the little machine can just barely run it lol. So it seems like a perfect time to try Linux on something. It's a Toshiba Tecra with a 233hz cpu and 160mbs of RAM and a 4.7gig HD. It has a DVD drive and pretty much everything works on it. One feature the Linux system pretty much needs to have is support for a wireless network card for the PC slot. Any suggestions? A 45 has a muzzle. A 9mm has a bullet vent. check suse the free site associated with it. http://en.opensuse.org/Welcome_to_openSUSE.org Note laptops have always been problem matic with linux since they often use hardware requiring windows code ie the modemn. Matt |

Look up Puppy Linux. It's 32 bit though, so depending on how old it really is... Ignorance may be bliss, but it sure ain't fun! |
