Have you noticed when you buy a tin of chopped tomatoes it mainly contains nothing but tomato butt-holes. I can only assume the unscrupulous tinned tomato vendors use the good bits of the tomatoes for pizza toppings etc. It's far better value to buy a tin of whole tomatoes and chop them yourselves. This ensures you get a fair ratio of butt-holes to tomatoes i.e. 1 to 1 You're born, you keep your head down and you die. If you're lucky... |

Dammit you guys, some things are worth fighting for ... As for a quiet day, you betcha. It's the day after the May Day Bank Holiday and I can't be arsed working. Hopefully it'll have worn off by tomorrow otherwise you'll be treated to a post detailing what I've dug out of my belly button. You're born, you keep your head down and you die. If you're lucky... |

Never heard it called tomato butt holes before. More like tomato cores to me. Then again our British cousins do have some weird words for certian items, ie. Cigarette = Fag, Butt = Bum, Can = Tin and one of my favorites, Sponge Cake = Spotted Dick, LOL. Fender "Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all other countries because you were born in it." Actually spotted dick is a real product. "Spotted Dick is a steamed suet pudding containing dried fruit, usually currants. The dessert is especially popular in the United Kingdom, usually served either with custard or with butter and brown sugar. Spotted refers to the currants (which resemble spots), and Dick is a corruption of the word dough." When one of my best friends retired a few years ago I was at a loss as to what I should get him as a gag gift. My wife, who is British, suggested a "spotted dick." Can you imagine, there were about 150 people at the retirement and I got up and said "What do you get the man who has everything?" Then I presented him with his very own spotted dick. It does sound kind of nasty. Like I said before our British cousins have some weird names for some common things. Fender "Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all other countries because you were born in it." George Bernard Shaw |

Having had Spotted Dick many, many times as a child I can assure you it's very nice. Other 'interesting' sounding foodstuffs are... Plum Duff Toad in the Hole Clootey Dumpling Bubble and Squeak Blood Pudding But I can't let you away with saying we have the funny sounding expressions. I was WAY too young to hear "Fanny Pack". I had only just found out what a fanny (British) was and the idea of getting them shrink wrapped freaked me out... You're born, you keep your head down and you die. If you're lucky... |

The wife still makes toad in the hole every now and again. She loves bubble and squeak, I don't. Never got up enough nerve to try blood pudding. Knowing what the British call a "fanny" I can imagine your surprise at hearing "Fanny Pack." LOL, that is to damn funny. You're telling me Fender, I can still remember where I first read the term. Guns and Ammo! They were talking about small semis for concealed carry in a 'Fanny Pack' And I went "They're suggesting carrying a .32 THERE...!!!!" What a dickhead eh? LOL... You're born, you keep your head down and you die. If you're lucky... |
