Post subject:  Cell Phones
Hi,

Well the other day I got a \"Offer\" in the mail to get a new cell phone from my carrier.
Here's the deal, I live in a \"Dead zone\" everytime I call from my area its roaming from all carriers.
So I have t either get \"No roaming or Unlimited Long Distance\" plan so I dont get Screwed!
My Dad got a track phone when he's with me, Mom calls me because half the time his wont work in our area.

So I stayed with who I have had for 8 yrs now.
They gave me credit towards a new one of $100 plus a free one for the other line too, even thou the Wife \"Doesnt want a New one\"!
So I got the best one they were offering for free as a back-up just in case.
My phone I got though for myself with the credit is a Nokia 6315i

Camera, Web, etc.................... More crap then you can think of and V-CAST.
Well I cant use the V-CAST in this area, but I can use the Web 2.0 with no problems .
So they give me 2 months of \"FREE SCREWING AROUND TIME \" with all the crap without using airtime plus now I can Text message (I didnt know I could on the other??? :roll:
And with PIX's too.
So now I have to get a \"Kit\" to down load music from my PC to my phone, or \"BUY IT\" plus It has a damn \"Memory card in it :shock:
I got to get if I want more than 28 MB of Memory.

I tried to get one of those \"Old Timer Phones\" you know that just Dail and call 911, BUT couldnt thru them.

This one is easier to use, easier to see, and of all things I cant get a wireless connection from my town 7 miles away that HAS WIRELESS and a HOTSPOT but I can get Champaign IL 65 miles away clear as a bell

I'm figure It would of been cheaper or the same thing If I would of bought a Laptop and put \"Voice\" on it for my cell phone, but then again it would be kind of hard to put in my Shirt pocket [lol] [lol]

Technology I'm 5 years behind

:D Sounds what I had last year. I bought a new cellphone. I said to the man \"the only options for me are calling and sms\". So I walked out the store with a phone for internet, photo, movie, nice ringtones (the mine has the honk of Dukes of Hazzard) and yes it can call or be called and sms. :roll:

I think the absolute, most basic phone you can get in the US is the Firefly.

It's mainly for kids since it only calls 2 numbers that are pre-programmed (but changeable), Mom & Dad. I think Cingular and one of the pre-paid companies offer it. You can get a basic Phone with out a camera also, but sometimes having a camera is nice. Especially for me when my daughter does something funny and we don't have our digi-cam.

All I've ever wanted was to just call. I told the girl last time, \"I just want a phone. If I need a camera, I'll use my Canon 20D, if I want to TEXT, I'll send an email with my computer. If I want to surf the web, I'll use my computer. I just want a phone, nothing but a phone.\" She just looked at me like I had two heads or something.

I can't comprehend why everyone wants to TEXT? Wouldn't it be much faster and easier to just call the person and either leave a message or actually talk to them? Why would I want to surf the web, on a phone? I guess I'm still driving on the Information Dirt Road. :roll:

Well Texting works well in situations when you can't answer the phone to talk, and aren't near a computer/laptop. I use it at work when I can't talk to my wife because I'm working on a project.

I made a mistake of buying my 13 year old a cell phone.

Son and I are at church Today. Son gets up to leave. He shows up 10 minutes later, doesnt say a Word ( he knows How irate i get when hes screwing off with his buddies during church) I'm about ready to interegate him. cell phone beeps, it is a SMS messege from him, I download the messege and hit the \"play video\" Button.

Its a video of a toilet bowl being filled up by the yellow Stream, with whistling in the background.

I seriously don't think I'm ready for a teenager...

He's thirteen? Just wait, it gets better (or worse, depending on your perspective). I could keep you entertained for hours with stories of the crap mine pulled..and that's only the stuff I know about. The mind boggles just thinking about what he did that I DON'T know.

Well I guess mine living in Texas has its one good side than, but when their here they never do anything wrong, because they know I'll go \"DAD\" ! on them. They dont want to hear me \"Lecture them on life for hours\" :lol:

The only thing though is I tell them,
\"You screw-up, mess-up ANYTHING LIFE WISE FOR YOURSELF, I'll get on the next flight, fly 1st Class, rent a luxury car, stay in a Fancy hotel, eat Steak and Shrimp Then put my \"GOOD FOOT UP THEIR ASS\" and then pay for it out of their \"Savings Account \" We set-up years ago for them.
Man , if that dont keep them in line :shock: :twisted:

But I miss them.
