Just had to share these. I got up the morning and getting ready for work, was watching the morning news when they showed a live feed from their Helicopter camera of the Moon with Venus just off it's Sunward side. So I grabbed my camera and tripod, rushed out on the quarterdeck and had just enough time to set up, and snap about 10 shots before Venus slipped behind the Moon. This was the best of the bunch.

Same shot, just cropped down and blown up.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice picture. This summer is it fourty years ago that Neil Armstrong set the first step on the moon and said. \"Small step for men, giant leap for mankind\" and \"Good luck mr. Gorsky\". Last quote is not so famous.

Actually, it's rather infamous, Dutchy:

IP sell that cropped pic to one of those \"Poster Companies\" that put those \"Team\" Crap sayings under them, like
\"Togetherness or \"Teamwork etc.... \"
Make a few $$$$ or a Sci-Fi cover

That is pretty cool.

General discussion means just that. :)

Feel free to post any cool pix on any non porn related topic.

This place could use some more post volume anyway. ;)

Thanks for the comments guys.

I used a Canon 20D with a 75-300mm IS lens, on a Manfrotto tripod. Have to admit, I was amazed I got it in time. Some of the shots I'd tried after Venus had set behind the Moon, the camera could bearly pick out the Moon at all.

Did I ever post this pic, that I took last September? I'm able to get that close without pissing this Hawk off and take a Muskrat's eye view pic.

Great capture Lunatock! That's one hell of a shot. Lighting and focus are dead on.

A new one. A snake minus it's head. Possibly either the work of that red tailed hawk, or a snapping turtle.

Well i prefer snakes with heads but it is still a neat shot.

Two more I took today:

Another headless snake, neither did themselves a favor by biting a snapping turtles tongue.

And the red tailed hawk again. Managed to snap this pic before it flew after whatever it's looking at.

Got a lot of pics, because it's one of my neighbors. Lives in a pine tree across the street from my house.
