If you're a Parrott Head like me, you may remember this tune from Jimmy Buffett's Volcano album. It was also my inspiration for my latest box, built for a contest at my local Woodcraft shore.

This is actuall a full 3 dimensional band saw box, in that there are drawers on 2 sides, not just one, and it has a flowing shapre regarless which side you look at.

The boat is made from an African hardwood called Chechen, and has some amazing color running through it, reds, golds, tan and brown. The Sandbar is a single piece of curly maple, and both wher cut with my band saw and shapped with an angle grinder. There are 2 drawers on each side that have been cut from the hull, cut into drawers and glued back together, and the pulls are also curly maple.

She's on display for customer voting at Woodcraft in Denver, so if you happen to be around here any time in October, please feel free to swing in and vote for it.

I'll be sure to post them when I'm done. We're still in the planning stage, but it'll be made from Mesquete and Bubinga, floor standing with 4 to 6 drawers in an Arnwar style with cabinet doors that cover the drawers. I also plan to make the doors with some depth and with a series of hangers across the inside top so she can hang necklaces there. The top will hinge up to reveal more storage with a large mirror mounted to the underside of the top. Jo is pushing for Cabrolet legs on the thing, so I may be picking up some new skills along the way.

If you're interested, you can see more of my work here:

I have separate albums for the different projects, along the right side.
