Today is the day the United States celebrates it's birthday. Today is the day our Declaration of Independence was dated and the intention of our fore fathers to seperate from Great Britain became clear. This document sparked two desperate wars and decades of hatred, but allowed this country to be forged with the highest ideals of any government ever. The decision to make this declaration did not come easy, like any decision that would inevitably lead to war, but no other choice could be found as the British Crown refused to compromise. So was fired "the shot heard 'round the world", and the United States was born.

I shot off 54 of those mortar charges (small version of the big fireworks displays) by the end I was using four tubes and had blown the bottom out of a fifth (cheap) one. I think next year I'm going to build a purpose built multi-tube mortar launcher.....<img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>

Fireworks experimentation. Always fun. Got a nice hole burned in my cheek, and a scar that was visible for a few years from a delayed blast. Burned me a few inches below my eye. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Now that I'm looking back. It was actually almost trippy seeing the sparks shoot right up from that smoldering "fountain" that went off as I was setting another one next to it.
